Description

from Island Breeze Lu'au
Winner of the "Best of West Hawaii" award which was first presented in 2000, the Island Breeze Luau at King Kamehameha's Kona Beach Hotel is a favorite of kama'aina (local residents), visitors and travel professionals.

Each evening guests are invited to join in a cultural experience that shouldn't be missed. The lu'au is well known for its delicious food and its amazing Polynesian production, and its beautiful unique location. It is held on the beachfront of historic Kamakahonu Bay and Ahu Ena, Kamehameha the Great's former estate in Kailua-Kona. Guests enjoy a backdrop of passing fishing boats, paddlers in outrigger canoes, and the lights of Kona and Mount Hualalai.

Considered a "Royal Hawaiian Experience", the lu'au features a 22 dish buffet, open bar, Polynesian arts & crafts demonstrations, and the Royal Court procession. Highlighting the evening is the spectacular Polynesian Revue. Where authenticity and the skills of the Island Breeze Ohana, is matched only by the spirit of aloha they share with the audience. All of this creates a very special cultural experience and memories that will last a lifetime.

With great style and infectious humor, Hawai'i was brought to life! The Master of Ceremony was hilarious and we were touched by the honor he bestowed on others as well as the history lesson he so eloquently taught. The host, Uncle Peni, made us feel welcome with the unique island Aloha you can only experience in person. Delicious authentic food, games and drink made this one of the highlights of our trip!

"Fantastic performance and decent food"

The Luau was fantastic enjoyed in an open air performance with dinner with family during Christmas time. There was a grand entrance and finale with great performers. The December weather was beautiful adding to the performance. The food though was ok, with not much variety of vegetarian choices. Pork lovers must have had it good. The food was buffet style with seated at long tables. We had good companions and enjoyed the hour and half of show and dinner.

We visited the third week of January with four other couples. We were first greeted with leis and a open bar. We were taught about the area, lots of history on the grounds, (Kamakahonu National Historic landmark about 50 ft. away) and Hulihe’e Palace across the bay. The food was some of the best we had on the island. And definitely at a luau. Great dancing and picture opp at the end. Cool how the Kings Royal Court arrived by boat.
