"Exciting Luau"
April, 2017
We really enjoyed the luau and festivities from the time we got there to the time we left. The dancers and the buffet were great. Our tour guide "Greg" made the bus ride go by quickly with his wit and knowledge.
Tip: Bring comforable shoes or scandels to walk in the soft sand.

The Germaine Luau was absolutely fantastic and the best of two luaus that we attended while in Hawaii. We paid a little extra for seats closer to stage, and the one on one service and spacious seating was well worth it. Everything from the greeting as we arrived to the friendly staff was so impressive. The beautiful ocean waves were within just a few feet of your arrival area, make a stunning backdrop for photographs. We absolutely loved this luau and the dancers were amazing and talented. Our 32 year old son was chosen to dance with a female hula dancer, and it was just one of the best times we will always remember. If we ever get to return to Hawaii, we will go back to this luau for sure.
Tip: Be sure to be hungry, as the food is amazing and plentiful!!

"Aloha Germaine!"
January, 2015
The setting is beautiful for Germaines's Luau on the shore of West Oahu . The show is right on the oceans edge in Kapolei. The sunset was amazing and during the festivities you could hear the sounds of the ocean. They have the most kind and helpful service and everyone makes you feel like you are there for them! The stories told in dance were mesmerizing, we even attempted the hula with them. The smell of the underground oven, roasting the pig, lets you know that you are in for an amazing feast. We dressed up for the occasion and the Luau was wonderful.
Tip: The bus ride is a blast and you will need to be sure that you prepare to tip the driver and his accomplice.

Our escort (Georgie) was excellent and shared her culture and musical gifts with us. She did an excellent job recognizing the special occasions of the people on the bus, and narrating points of interest along the way. I liked that this company used so many of our kupuna as escorts, they have so much to offer. The food was good and plentiful. It was the show that lacked so much! It was not cohesive, did not narrate the history of the cultures they portrayed. Although they did have a few good dancers, most dances lacked grace. There were longs lulls in the show. The music was lackluster. Even the Hawaiian Wedding Song and the Fire Dancer were mediocre. So disappointed! Wish I had taken my granddaughter again to Smith's Luau on Kauai which is excellent.

From the moment we arrived the family that runs the luau was attentive. The evening unfolds with drinks dinner, some corny jokes, fire, dancing and a whole lot of heart. Definitely worth the hour drive from Waikiki.

My family of five decided to splurge for the plumeria package at Germaine's Luau and we were not disappointed. From the moment we arrived our hostess, Abby, made us feel right at home. She escorted us to a photo session with some hula dancers and we were given kukui nut leis. From there we were seated on the front section of seating right in the center and Abby gave us our drink tickets and showed us the window that was exclusive to the plumeria guests. Reno, our bartender, didn't disappoint. He remembered us and our drink of choice each time we visited his window and the drinks were delicious! The food was served right to us at our table and it was delicious! The show was very entertaining and my older son (who was born on Oahu back in '94) was selected to participate in the men's hula contest. He won! Later on everyone was invited on stage to participate in dance my other son and myself had a blast! Overall, we had a wonderful time and were very pleased that we paid a little extra for the plumeria package!

"Mediocre at best"

We were a group of 7 that attended Germaine's Luau. The experience was mediocre at best, and certainly not worth the almost $900 that we spent on tickets. This included being upgraded to the medium level of seats, which I believe included a few alcoholic drinks (I believe 3). Soft drinks were unlimited. I expected the luau to be on the beach with tables and chairs provided. Instead, there were picnic tables with benches that were crammed into an area that was too small for the number of people. If you do not pay for upgraded seating, your view of the show would be limited. The view was fine, but certainly not worth the cost we paid. In all fairness, the dancers and performers were entertaining and good. The host was cheesey at times and the evening felt long and drawn out. It wasn't terrible, but certainly wasn't worth the cost. I would look for other luau options on the island.

We paid $400 for this event. As it was a buffet, we were expecting to taste the local foods and have a variety of foods. The luau began with singing on stage. Then they summoned everyone to go an watch the digging up of the pig. This part was kind of cool as some dude sounded one of those shell horns. I don't think this is the pig that we ate. The actual pork that we ate was at room temperature if we were in a room. The luau was outside at the beach. The other items on the buffet were poi, some fermented-like coconut thing, teriyaki beef and chicken, a poke that I thought was salsa, salad, pineapple, white cake and chocolate cake. The pork was okay. I thought it would have more seasonings. My son ate the beef and got sick. The other son took one bite of the beef. So the buffet was just average. The show was a bit more entertaining. They sang some Don Ho songs and did a lot of hula dancing. They were supposed to have the different Polynesian islands represented. However, the show that we saw last year at Sea World of San Diego that also had the different islands represented was a better show. Also, before we were dismissed to go to the buffet line, the hostess had us all hold hands and pray over the food. As we are Christian, that was fine for us, but what about the other religions or the non-religious? The adults were issued alcohol drink tickets and there were unlimited non-alcoholic drinks.
