"Fake lua"
November, 2017
Having been to many luas on many islands here, this is very "commercial" and food way on the cheap side, not at all worth the money, or even half the cost. This is NOT a realistic lua, nor were the dances very "hawaiian"...they were all kicked up to be commercial and entertain, not to show you how a real lua is in Hawaii. Food? Poor to fair, and VERY on the cheap side...believe it or not the tuna poke was TWO SMALL PIECES in a small plastic container, as was the poi....I have NEVER seen such CHEAP lua meal. Entertaining, yes. Real? No. Worth the money? No....

"GREAT TIME!"
October, 2016
Getting to tour the aquarium and the hands on activities were a plus. Got to make a headpiece so much fun. Sunset was breathtaking. We had VIP package so got to set closer to front. Show is excellent. 10 year old fire dancer was amazing. The food and drinks were good. This is the only luau I have been to so have nothing to compare it to . I really enjoyed it and recommend it.

We enjoyed the different stations to learn about the culture, the food was phenomenal, as was the dancing. Even better was the aquarium viewing after the show.

"Not worth it"

The experience lasted 2 hours and a half including the entrance. We were at the end to eat and many dishes were already empty. The beaf was very hard to eat almost just bones or fat. No time to start eating that we have to look for out free drink as the bar closed. When we eated, it was cold. The show didn't last long and it wasn't that great. When to Polynesian Center without the dinner and it was a lot better. We were a party of 7 and we all think the same. We were lucky to have the Go Oah'u card because we would never have paid for that.

"A fun but very rushed night"

We arrived a bit early and getting in to the luau was fine since we had reservations. once into the facility, there were some activities to participate in (lei and reed weaving as well as dance/instruments) but then various things were initiated that vied for your attention such as birthday and anniversary celebrations. Also during this time, people were encouraged to check out the sunset. The fireworks which sounded like they were at the facility were actually down the beach at the Royal Hawaiian I believe. The initial man tai was very weak and watered down. You got 2 other drink coupons which were of better quality. Dinner had a pretty good variety but before you even had a chance to eat the show was started, lights were out and you had to finish your dinner without being able to see what you were eating. All this to say, for the amount of money spent, it felt like a very rushed night of trying to compete with what other facilities advertise yet little time to actually enjoy what was happening. It was a very special trip for us as it was my first return to my birthplace after moving when I was 8 months old, and my parents celebrated their 56 anniversary (they met, got married and had me in Honolulu). So we certainly enjoyed our time and the show. However, for the money spent, it would have been worth it more if it didn't feel like everything was so rushed. A nice perk at the end however, was being able to go through the aquarium where the luau was hosted, however, even that was washed with only having 30 minutes to enjoy it. Moral of the story.... there are some really nice ideas, but having things so rushed and having to eat in the dark while trying to cut your salt and meat while also trying to watch a show took away from the overall experience. Adding even an hour would make the overall experience more pleasant.

Was a good experience but not enough food was available by the time our table got to the buffet. The show was good but the entire night seemed rushed. Would only recommend if all other places were booked. Was still a good night though.

This luau was a lot of fun for us. Before the food was served we got to meet several of the performers and try some of the dance moves, ukulele chords, and crafts. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it. Definitely take the time afterward to tour the aquarium.
