"Perfect stay in Volcano"

The Volcano Forest Inn is a quiet hideaway in Volcano town. Large spacious rooms, deck, all amenities, delicious breakfast and wonderful staff. A short drive to the park, it was the perfect location for our trip to Kilauea. Highly recommended!

"Close to Volcanoes National Park"

Stayed here last October. We were looking for a place close to Volcanoes National Park for a night, and this fit the bill. The room we got was large, and seemed clean (but I found a bug next to my pillow right before we left the next day). The room ambiance was more on the spartan side and not decorated for comfort, so we didn't exactly feel at home. You really felt that you were about to sleep in a stranger's guestroom. It can be tricky to find the entrance if you don't know the place you are looking for. We didn't avail of the free breakfast that came with the booking. It's a secluded guesthouse, surrounded by trees and greenery, so it can be a bit claustrophobic to some.

"Beautiful setting"

Our room was very nice. There was only one other room rented at the time, so it was very quiet and restful. Breakfast was delicious. The caretakers were very helpful with information: local eateries, places to visit, etc.

Here are the pros: Secluded, beautiful tree ferns surrounding the place, Room #4 (can't speak to any other rooms is spacious) and a decent breakfast if you want to eat what they are serving. Here are the cons: The room was so musty smelling, it triggered my allergies and asthma. The mattress had to be from last century. Hand soap in the bathroom is in a bottle of Dawn (I have a picture to prove this) and the towels look to be from the same time as the the mattress. We thought at least it would be very quiet but instead there was some electrical noise that lasted for about 30 seconds at least once an hour. Trying to locate the entrance is a real trick. Poorly marked and instructions to find it poor as well.

"Hidden B&B amongst lush forest"

We stayed overnight at this great B&B located only 1 mile from the Volcano National Park. VFI is clean, quiet and close to the volcano - offering nice accommodation to allow us the make the most of our short stay. Upon arrival, Dan greeted me and showed me to the room (big one with beautiful vegetation all around). He turned on the heater to make sure we would come back to a nice warm room after exploring the volcano in the rain. We were able stayed at night to see the red glow of the volcano without having to drive back to Kona (1.5 hrs. away) in the dark and rain. Then we were able to wake up at 6:30 am the next morning to enjoy the crater and steam vents pretty much to ourselves since most tourists and tour bus arrive at 8:00 pm. We were able to make it back to the VFI for the breakfast of fluffy pancake, taro toast and orange wedges. Dan was very gracious to whip it up for us so we could leave the volcanos with a full belly. I would definitely stay here again.
