"Perfect boutique hotel"

We loved our stay at Ko’a Kea. The size, layout and feel was just perfect. We found the service to be great and enjoyed watching the sunset with fellows guests each night. We did also dine at the hotel a couple times and the food and service matched that of the hotel. We opted for an ocean view suite. I will note that some of the rooms that don’t have a view of the ocean simply look at a parking lot. We realized that before hand and were happy to pay the extra amount for a ocean view. Would def stay again and hope to be back!

"Quiet accomodating place."

The Koa Kea is very well-located, small and quiet on a very busy section of the coast. WE had two rooms, one on the second floor with a "partial" ocean view and one on the first with a "full" ocean view. Ask for second floor rooms regardless of category, as the views are better and the public beach path goes right in front of the ground floor rooms. Also, full ocean view rooms face west and sun shines strongly in your eyes in the afternoon, so the "partial" ocean view rooms facing north or south may actually be better. Hotel has a washer and dryer for guests which is REALLY helpful to wash clothes that get Kauai red mud on them from hiking. Bell staff is very knowledgeable, and desk staff went the extra mile, including mailing clothes we inadvertently left behind at no charge. A few odd things: there is a breakfast buffet with lots of muffins, etc. but when I asked for a bagel, which they do stock, I was charged extra! We were there over Christmas, and there was absolutely nothing special at the hotel, which was okay, but also the hotel staff had no information on other nearby celebrations. We wanted a Christmas eve carol service, or some type of celebration to take our daughter to, and we asked but the Koa Kea had no list or information. Too late, we found out that the hotel next door had two carol services at 5 and 7 pm on Christmas eve! But overall, this is excellent value and a lovely place if you want small and quiet rather than a huge mega-hotel! Massages are excellent.

"Second visit to Koa Kea won't be our last"
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5

We first visited Koa Kea in 2011 and we're so glad we visited again in the past week. It's a small boutique hotel (100+ rooms) that caters to couples, not to large tour groups or families with kids. The seclusion can't be beat, nor can the service levels and well-equipped modern rooms that do not strain for "Hawaiian" style. From the check-in process (thanks for the category upgrade) to the valet staff, from the delicious breakfasts at Red Salt to the uncrowded pool...this has become our favorite hotel in Hawaii among many choices over multiple visits. We'll be back, but we won't wait eight years this time.

"Phenomenal accommodations meet superb Cutomer Service!"

My husband and I just spent the most wonderful weekend at the Ko’a Kea. This was our first visit, and as seasoned travelers we assumed we knew what to expect... and then our expectations were not only met, but surpassed! From the moment we pulled up to the valet, every staff member we interacted with was kind, welcoming, and incredibly helpful. The customer service here is top notch! Jack Slim, the hotel manager has definitely honed the fine art of staff training (working in management myself, I appreciate how difficult this can sometimes be). After checking in, we received a guided tour to our Ocean View room (gorgeous!), and given a briefing on its amenities- which included the much appreciated Nespresso machine for our morning coffee! Highlights included our dinner at Red Salt, sipping our cocktails poolside, and watching the waves crash from our lanai. Our entire stay, we were treated to thoughtful touches by the staff- the nightly turn down service was phenomenal! It’s as though our every need was considered and attended to, even before we could ask. My husband and I are both eagerly awaiting our next opportunity to stay here, and will definitely be recommending the Ko’a Kea to all of our friends!
