"Full of Aloha!"

We needed a place to stay in Honolulu whilst we looked at the UH with our youngest daughter. I'm so glad I found the suarfjack!!!! We were looking for a place that didn't feel like a crazy tourist hotel and we found it! The vibe at the Surffjack is warm and friendly from the front door to the housekeeping and from everyone in between. This old hotel has been refurbished to a mid-century jewel. Our room was a standard two bedroom. Not to much to say but it was clean and a decent size. The pool is small but cool and lots of people spent time hanging there. On our day off from "business" we walked 4 blocks to the beach. Easy peasy when the Suarfjack supplies the clean towels and beach bag. We also walked to dinner and shopping from this great location. I noticed that lots of places have music in the evenings. I was impressed that the Suarfjack seemed to have the best local talent. Others not so much ;) The night we ate at the hotel our waitress said "the UH is full of Aloha". But I say "The Surffjack is full of Aloha"!

I can't say enough good things about this place. We stayed 3 nights after our 5 night stay at Turtle Bay resort on the North Shore....and the service and friendly attitude of the staff at this hotel have them beat hands down. Every staff member we met knew who we were and seemed to genuinely care that we were enjoying our stay and offered to help us in anyway required. Thanks for a great stay!

We stayed in the Surfjack hotel for one week in early September. Our first impressions were that it was a unique and compact hotel with staff that were genuinely pleased to see you. The pool was visible right away and people were relaxing around it. You can get an idea of the size from photos on this site. The bar and restaurant were just a few steps away too. We registered with the friendly guys on reception and then went to our room. Our cases were there already, waiting for us. The room was of a decent size with two large beds and all the usual hotel room stuff. There was a balcony that overlooked the pool where music was playing. Each evening, they played an old movie on an outdoor screen (no sound) which reflected the surfing era years ago. It all added to the atmosphere and vibe around the place. The hotel is a short walk from the beach and we were very happy with the location. There are ABC food stores nearby. The bathroom was compact and had everything required. The hair drier was robust and worked well. The towels were of a decent quality. There was a small empty fridge for our use which contained two bottles of water which were replenished each day. There were three packs of snacks also. Dried Mango, butter popcorn and some savoury nibbles. These were a welcome complimentary gesture. Virginia, our housekeeper was a delight with her little notes wishing us a good day. She carried out her duties with a smile and great efficiency, making sure everything was perfect. The aircon was efficient. We ate in the restaurant twice and both meals were extremely good. The waitresses were knowledgeable about the dishes and explained anything that was not clear. The complimentary coffee which you could collect from the restaurant on a morning was welcome. The resort tax of $25 included the water in the fridge each day, beach towels to take out, bikes to ride if desired, Wi-Fi (excellent signal) and $10 against the restaurant for food and drink. We enjoyed having drinks at the bar and the staff treated us as friends with their easy chat. Whenever we came back from a day out, it felt like coming home – always a genuine smile and welcome. One day I fell over at the pool (no, not in an alcoholic stupor). I think a bather may have spilt some sun cream. Within seconds there were at least three members of staff there to help me. They got there before my hubby even. They looked after me and Dexter was particularly concerned and kind. What was apparent to us is that these people really care about their guests and the services they offer and this is not something you often get in the larger impersonal hotels. Unfortunately, when we travelled on to our next holiday destination, we discovered that we had left two of our wallets containing a considerable amount of cash on the bed in the hotel room in the hustle and bustle of preparing to leave. It was late evening in Oahu. We phoned the hotel from San Francisco and they confirmed that they had the wallets and they sent them to us immediately via UPS and we received them two days later every dollar accounted for. At no point were we worried that there would be cash missing. There are not many hotels where you would have that service and honesty. Thank you Virginia. You are a star. To summarise, this is a fantastic hotel with lovely people and I have no hesitation to recommend it. If you want a hotel that is big, impersonal, without character and could be anywhere in the world because of its blandness, then this is not the one for you.

"Super hip with great vibe"

Surfjack is a fabulous hotel located right in centre of Waikiki. Very hip and modern, with fantastic pool, bar and restaurant. We had a three-bedroom suite for 5 of us. Rest of family had a one bedroom suite. Was perfect for all of us - an all-age family group from Sydney (50 year olds, 20 year olds and one toddler) in Honolulu for a family wedding. Rooms were great; well-appointed, cleaned and made up daily. Staff were really friendly and hospitable, providing great service. The restaurant on site had a wide-ranging menu full of fresh salads and healthy options. On Friday afternoon, and Saturday, there was a DJ at the pool - we had such fun floating around, then lazing with some cocktails listening to the groove poolside! It was also great swimming around with toddler granddaughter, who also had great fun! Best thing about Surfjack is that it channels a modern, hip vibe, with a cool poolside atmosphere that is not about 100s of people trying to get a lounge and trying to look good. It's smaller, packs a punch and really enables the Waikiki holiday we were after. Would highly recommend it!
