It’s hard to say anything less than perfect about a perfect place. This resort property was gorgeous and very nice and accommodating. We had an amazing stay and did all the touristy fun things but also spent time relaxing. Our room was facing the ocean on the third floor with a balcony which was amazing. We had a loft, living room, kitchen, and a bedroom, with two bathrooms. The bathrooms could use some work, the shower downstairs was made for a 4 foot five person and I’m not really joking. The shower upstairs had two heat setting, blazing hot or cold. The other thing that was somewhat of a bummer is the air conditioner would only work with a closed patio door so we couldn’t keep the door open to hear the ocean but also have the air conditioning keeping the room cool. Other than that though it was nice, quaint, beautiful, very beachy and perfect.

We booked this resort through AirBnb and it worked out wonderfully! The room had a kitchen, wash and dryer - everything we needed to set up shop for a week. The resort is very close to just about anything you need - shops, grocery stores, beaches. The closest beach is a little rocky, not terrible. Its a great spot to catch a sunset.

We are Vacation Internationale owners and this is our third stay on Maui using our points. One previous trips we stayed at the Hololani and Valley isle slightly north in Kahana Beach. We have enjoyed the Papakea the most. The grounds are pretty and well maintained, there is lots to do right at the resort, and it is very walkable for groceries, restaurants, etc. There is beach access at the north end of the resort, or it is a quick drive to great beaches in the area. We had two one bedroom units in the D building (we are a family of 5 with teens and tweens). The units are nicely updated with a garden, pool, and ocean view. The suite has everything you need and new Weber BBQ's by the pool make dining in easy. Friendly staff and nice clientele, considerate and family-oriented. We would definitely return here.

Booked through Aston and given room C205. Gorgeous! Well maintained 1 BR unit and beautifully remodeled with granite counters and quality cabinetry! Modern fridge, oven and micro. FYI.. annoying ghost ants do get into the kitchen. Make sure and keep all your food in the fridge or sealed in a Tupperware type container. Housekeeping does come to the room everyday to remove the trash, which helps to control this problem. The bathroom shower was done up in riverstone with a cute-as-can-be turtle theme. I spoke with Lyn Molina at Aston before I arrived and she did a great job assigning me to the right room. Lyn is excellent! The grounds here are beautiful and very well maintained. The pools are heated (which is wonderful as it gets cool in the evenings with the tradewinds blowing). Call housekeeping when you need beach towels. They will remove the used ones and provide clean new ones. The hot tubs are wonderfully oversized. A nicely maintained putting green is available with putters and balls at the front desk. There are 2 tennis courts, which require you to pick up a key at the front desk in order to enter. Make sure and request the weekly activities sheet when checking in. A gentleman named "Carl" does an amazingly great yoga class a couple of times during the week. There are 5 grills located at each of the pools and every morning I noticed workers out at 8 am cleaning the grills and the pool. Nicely done. There is a farmers market about 5 minutes down the road from the resort on Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 7 am. Great place to pick up the veggies, bread, cheese etc that you need for your condo. As mentioned Lyn Molinas, with Aston, is terrific. She is however off site and the property front desk is managed by another entity. Those workers are, generally speaking, so-so with work ethic. A few seem congenial and dedicated, but others seem as though they are tired of their jobs and even more tired of tourists. There is a definite disconnect with them associating the tourist = revenue generation = employment. Management should work with them in perhaps finding new positions within or outside of Papakea. The last thing anyone coming here, who has saved up thousands of dollars to get to Hawaii, wants to encounter is an employee who seems aloof and disinterested in helping them have a great vacation. My stay at Papakea was wonderful and I would recommend it to anyone visiting this part of Maui.

"Building L 204 was a perfect spot for us!"

We will always stay here in the future. Great location literally a stone’s throw from the ocean. Gas grills are right around the pool and kept clean. Beautiful sunset spot. There is not a bar or restaurant on property, but a large grocery store across the street and full kitchen allows you to cook your own food and make drinks. Building L has plenty of parking right by it. There’s a beach walk that goes all the way down Ka’anapali beach as far as the Hyatt - nice option with tons of beach bars and restaurants along the way. Our unit had a great large screen TV and we were able to watch sports inside when it was a bit too hot out on the balcony. Much more reasonably priced than other resorts
