"Na Pali Deluxe Catamaran Snorkel - plus dolphins"
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5
Reviewed November 09, 2017 NEW
We had an incredible experience with Kauai Sea Tours. The crew were all very friendly, fun, and educational. The tour starts with a buffet breakfast inside the cabin. There is a good selection of baked goods, coffee, and juice. Despite the number of people on the boat, it never felt overcrowded. There are plenty of places to stand or sit and have a good view of the coast. We were fortunate to spot the first humpback whale (tale splash and all) of the season as well as a monk seal in the water! We also toured with spinner dolphins for a good portion of the boat ride. The views of the coast are incredible. The snorkeling is weather dependent. We were fortunate to have our crew find a safe place to snorkel toward the end of the trip since a swell had come in earlier that was unexpected. The visibility wasn't great, but we saw some fish. In case anyone's worried, one of the crew members gets in the water with everyone who chooses to snorkel or just swim and puts out a paddleboard as a visible, safety precaution. They provide snorkels, masks, and fins, so you don't need to bring anything. At the end of the snorkel, they disinfect everything in a bleach solution. Lunch is a deli buffet so you can choose what to put on your sandwich. For vegetarians, you can make a cheese, tomato, and lettuce sandwich if you wish. They also had pasta salad. After the snorkeling, the bar opens. Drinks are included in the price of the tour, so feel free to enjoy them. They had mai tais, beers, and wine. Oh yeah, non alcoholic drinks were available too. The crew came around the decks and served cookies and additional drinks too! The captain enjoyed playing music according to what we saw or he talked about. He was a lot of fun. Overall, the tour provided great service, views, and information.

"Na Pali Sunset Adventure"
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5
Reviewed November 02, 2017 NEW
We took the Sunset Dinner Cruise a couple of weeks ago when the sea was very choppy. The Captain was clear that this would be more of an adventure than a cruise - he was right. Nevertheless he negotiated the waters brilliantly and we were able to see the whole of the stunning Na Pali coastline and we came home with some wonderful memories. The crew were excellent and took great care to ensure that everyone stayed safe as well as acting as great hosts. Drinks were plentiful, the food was good. We had an unexpected sighting of spinner dolphins who aren't usually around in the afternoon. Thank you for an excellent tour.

"When the Captain says...."

“We have a conundrum” I highly suggest you go with heading south to snorkel. The issue was a very large swell that would heavily impact our ability to do much of this excursion. The captain said we may not land on the beach, or snorkel, or have lunch, or get even remotely close to the coastline. He took a vote for going to Na Pali or heading south and the few people who spoke up opted for Na Pali. Little did we know we would be relentlessly pounded for 3 hours in 20’ swells, and no I’m not mistaken with that number they were massive 20 foot rollers (per the Captain) that we were navigating in a Zodiac which took constant diligence from the Captain as well as all of us holding on tightly and always looking for the next wave. I want to stress that it was the groups choice to go North but we certainly had no idea what we were in for. Quite frankly it was 4 hours of simply the most uncomfortable not fun in the least adventure. Both my girlfriend and I wanted nothing more than to be back on shore and out of this disaster but neither of us were saying it so as to support the other. The further and further we headed towards Na Pali the more I dreaded the return trip. The highlight (yes there was a highlight) was in the first 45 minutes when we happened upon the dolphin pod and the babies were spinning delightfully into the air, the sea turtles were great too. After that it was a major bummer. So after 3.5 to 4 hours of misery we passed the harbor just briefly to check the one last “Hail Mary” spot as the Captain put it to snorkel and it was a bust as well. So back to the harbor to eat our lunch on a picnic table back at the strip mall. I want to stress I’m not ripping on Kauai Sea Tours as Mother Nature can be a b_tch sometimes and that’s how it goes but part of me does wish that El Capitan had just told us it was a no go on account of the bat sh_t crazy waves we were going to encounter. If the weather and swell are good this trip would be incredible just not this time. Good luck!

It is over my expectation and imagination. The crews are professional to serve and take care of you. This is definitely the best angle to see Napali Coast. You could take time to enjoy the scenery, have some cheese, fruit and wine. I have awesome experience and will recommend all my friends to join this tour. Besides, I have a nice dinner and perfect sunset moment as well.
