Welcome to the Wailua River's most "da kine" tour - Rainbow Kayak Tours. Paddle the majestic Wailua River, the original home of the first Hawaiians, who paddled 1500 miles from the Marquesas Islands to Kaua`i almost 1500 years ago. Hear the legends and learn about the flora and fauna of Kauai`s most sacred area. After paddling past numerous Heiaus (hallowed shrines), you will view ancient Kamokila Village. Soon you will come to the North Fork where you will paddle leisurely through the Garden Isle's most beautiful jungle river until you come to the trailhead for Secret Falls.

Enjoy a moderate hike through Kauai rainforest to an enchanting waterfall, which descends 80` into a natural pool surrounded by rocks and vegetation - made famous when it was featured in the opening scene of the popular television show, Fantasy Island. Inclement weather rarely stops this fantastic journey!

Check-in times: 7:15 am & 12:45 pm. The 4-1/2 hour trip includes lunch. Eat Hawaiian style after choosing ham, turkey, or vegetarian sandwiches plus beverage and chips.

Your expert Kauai guide can also answer many other questions about our beautiful island.

We went early in the morning which I highly recommend. The guide, Matt, was awesome and extremely helpful. You kayak up a gorgeous river for about an hour and then hike to a gorgeous waterfall. It had rained extensively so the hike was muddy but we were well warned. The waterfall and lunch there made it all worth it. A great little excursion on the island.

We had the pleasure of having Celeste as our guide. She was patient, informative, kind, and had a great sense of humour! As a party of 7, we had her all to ourselves as a family and she was so great with the kids and us adults! It was super muddy post-flood rains, but the mud was part of the fun and Celeste made sure it was safe for all. She kept a great pace, and shared lots of history and trivia about the area. We took the 7 am tour and felt like it was super early when we booked it, but are SO GLAD we did the morning instead! We had the falls practically to ourselves for lunch and a swim, and on the way out easily met 120 people hiking in. Yuck. All of those people would have made the falls less enjoyable for sure! The kayak in was relatively easy, nice, and relaxing... Lunch was simple and good. The fresh pineapple is a great touch! The sandwich, snacks and water were good. If it were possible to speak to condiment choices, that would be a nice touch. Mayo isn’t my fav... at all. The equipment seems to be just about ready for upgrading (kayaks and lifejackets) but are still safe and functional. Just not as shiny and new as some of the other companies, and a few broken handles make them harder to maneuver. That being said, I’d rather have a GREAT guide and dated but safe equipment than new equipment and a dud guide! Celeste was awesome! Grateful and happy!

"Secret falls kayak and hike"

For starters the entire island is beautiful but the kayak and hike tour lets you see the natural beauty from a different vantage. The trip is roughly 2.5 miles via kayak then roughly 1 mile hiking until you reach the secret falls, which is absolutely beautiful. It had just rained a ton the preceding days so the trail was muddy but definitely doable. Our guide, “Uncle” Thomas was great and very knowledgeable about all the plant and animal life, as well as the history of the island. I would recommend this tour to anyone who likes to hike and kayak.

Andrea is a great guide, we were a small group and were all capable paddlers. She took her time on the hike, waited for everyone and gave a good history of the area and the landscape. Played the uke and sang beautifully at the falls. Great trip for kids as well!

We had a wonderful time. Our guide, Andrea, was fantastic and serenaded us at the Sacred Falls. This is a must do if you are in Kauai - and if you are looking for a great workout (paddling and hiking) - along with absolutely beautiful scenery - this is the adventure for you.
