I went to Hawaii for the first time and stayed 9 days as a solo traveler, prior to arriving I did a lot research about the island and came across this trolley service but didn't buy the early bird passes as I wasn't sure how they operate. I took the ride to Ala Moana and it cost $2 then picked up the brochure that was on the trolley to find out they have other lines to cover different tours. Next day I bought the 7 day pass cost $70 but if you buy early bird it's only $63 on their website. Nevertheless I took great advantage of the pass and immediately hopped on the blue line that was a coast line tour. Greg was the driver and I absolutely enjoyed his knowledge and stories, I learnt so much. The blue tour was the best, the scenery at Hanauma Bay is a must visit. I came across Greg again when I took the Red historical line, his stories are so enjoyable just to listen I didn't want to get off the trolley but I had to of course, on the way back came across a female driver on a double decker, that was rather boring she said this building is this then that's it. I took the green line twice, first time to hiking up Diamond Head and second time to KCC markets on Saturday. The day before I left I went on blue line again to see the great scenery and driver Mary was hilarious, she is so genuine and she had other experiences and stories different to Greg so I learnt more about the area, it really made the ride so much more fun when you got great stories to listen to. I went to Ala Moana almost everyday so I made great use of the pass. I didn't come across any rude drivers, I must add that when you are on the pink line there is no story telling, it's really a circle service from Ala Moana to Waikiki hotels. If you are unsure about their service you can go to their trolley terminal inside T Galleries and picked up a brochure and speak to the representative before making a pass purchase.

Trolleys run often. The pink trolley is the most useful to get around Waikiki. Cost $2 each way. No transfers. Correct change only. No narration of the area except the stops.

"Waikiki Trolley...good way to see the sights!"

My wife and I purchased the Red Line Tour which takes you all around Downtown Honolulu to see the sights. Many stops offered....can hop on/hop off at any time. Saw a lot of great sights that weren't within walking distance from our Waikiki hotel. They offer several other lines as well and multiple day offerings. We had other tours booked that took us to those sights, but not one for Downtown Honolulu. One of the guides, Denise, was an EXCELLENT tour guide...very pleasant voice and many interesting facts offered. Some of the transports are "trolleys" and others are double-decker busses. Wish they had a better "Chinatown" stop, but other than that, tour was great!

"Good, but need improvements"

I used the Waikiki Trolley last week when we arrived in Honolulu. The service and the trolleys are OK, as both need improvements. Nobody tells you that if you buy a 2 day pass, you will save money, instead of buying 1 day pass for 2 days. The open trolleys keep taking people, even when they are full. Me and my wife took one of those, which got full at its stop point, and everybody was seated. In one of the stops, it accepted a family with a child, and the driver demanded passengers to give seats for the mom and the child, or she would not continue driving. These trolleys are small and they run with a big stop return time difference. It was an absurd, for a man had to leave his seat when had also paid at least $25 to get a tour through the city and had to keep standing until a seat got vacant.

We planned our only day to see as much as we could and with the help of the first trolley driver it all worked out as planned. We did three routes with only 10 minutes spent at the transfer area which was well organised. If you plan before hand and look at what you want to see it is a very cost effective way of seeing the island. The drivers are very knowledgeable and informative and the guide on the blue route was very amusing.
