"Red line was terrible"

We took the Red Line trolley and it was not worth it. They only had two buses going and there was 50 minutes in between pickups. One of the stops we wanted to stop at was Honolulu Coffee but there was nothing else around there and we didn't want to wait 50 minutes for the next bus. The Aloha Tower Marketplace is all closed down and not even worth being a stop anymore. The drivers on either bus that we had were just ok. We really wanted to see the Iolani Palace and in hindsight we should have just taken an Uber to it instead of wasting the day waiting for the bus to show up.

Compact, but famous area could be covered. I've been able to be familiar with Honolulu by this tour. Thank you so much.

"Unfriendly bus driver on purple line, poor schedule"
TripAdvisor user rating 2 out of 5

First of all, there is no other reliable alternative to this service. On some lines, buses run every 70 minutes. The good thing is that they cover the entire area of Honolulu and also, most bus drivers are really helpful and have interesting information. Unfortunately, on our bus ride with the purple line yesterday, our driver told a guest to "shhhh!" In a ride way. I cannot imagine this is the kind of impression that this company wants to give their guests. I never witnessed something like this in the USA and also the guests around us were quite shocked. Anyways, other drivers did a great job but on the leaflet there are no exact stops so sometimes it's not clear where to be picked up by the bus. Due to traffic, delays of 10minutes are normal. Since a day pass for all lines is good for two days actually, the value you get for your money is adequate. Yet, when booked online, there is no evidence of the 48-hour validity.

Hard to time things so you weren't wasting your time waiting around. It was nice when it did work out and you could see parts of the city while getting to your next destination. Wouldn't waste my money next time.

There are many different trolleys taking you to various locations - Pink Trolley for Ala Moana and then blue or green to take you further around other tourist attractions - all for a small fee per person.
