We were a party of 12 people and the service was impeccable. Great entertainment with live jazz music. We took a photo with the captain. From boarding to disembarking the staff made us feel special. Definitely a "Must do" when in Honolulu.

"A Dinner Cruise in the Honolulu Harbour area"
March, 2015
My wife and I went out on a dinner cruise aboard the Star of Honolulu on February 27, 2015. The experience was just great. We booked the five star dinner cruise in order to have top of the line service and food and we were not disappointed.

From the time we boarded we were treated like VIP's and the young man who was to serve us throughout the evening greeted us by name as we had canapés and a drink on the back deck. He showed us to our table and was attentive at the end of the night as he was at the beginning.

Each meal course was served at exactly the right time and presentation was excellent. The food was delicious as were the drinks.

We were entertained throughout the evening by a wonderful piano musician who later joined by a saxophonist, then a singer. During the mid point of our meal we had traditional hula dancers providing an excellent show.

Overall the evening was great success in all areas. My wife and I loved it and would not fail to recommend this to anyone who should be visiting Honolulu as a "must attend event".

Tip: The lower decks seem to have a livlier brand of music with more of a party atmosphere. As we went out on the open deck we could hear their music and wondered what it would be like there. Next time we'll try that..

"Early Bird Whale Watching Tour"
TripAdvisor user rating 4 out of 5

I chose this cruise as they offered a whale sighting guarantee. I decided to do this tour my first morning in Honolulu so, just in case I didn't see in whales, I could come back later in the week for another chance. My first trip, we did not see any whales, but I had a lovely time on the cruise and with the friendly staff. The breakfast was beyond average and fairly over priced considering what's delivered. On my second trip, I decided to forgo the breakfast. This time, the water was much rougher, but the staff was very helpful in locating some ginger pills for me, and we did end up seeing two whales. A few important things to consider when booking this cruise is there is no guarantee you will see whales on your first (or even second) cruise, so plan to take it more than once, and if you do see whales, you likely will only see them expelling water through their blow hole. The boat can only get so close to whales and you can only be so lucky to see them breach or do some tail or fin slaps.

We booked the 5 star fireworks cruise. It was fantastic. The food was excellent and plentiful. The service was very professional. The entertainment ( Hawaiian, dinner music then jazz) was great. You get a welcome bellini cocktail and 3 premium drinks each. We really enjoyed it.

"Never again on a Friday"
TripAdvisor user rating 2 out of 5

We booked this tour last year doing the VIP 5 star tour where everything was amazing, so this year we booked again wanting to see the show on the next lower floor, there was only a $30.00 price difference so I thought it must still be nice. This time our experience was horrible. The room was so crowded that you could barely walk around, you were practically sitting in the laps of your neighbors. The food was cold and undercooked. The people next to us were done with their dinner before we even got ours. At sunset people ran out to the deck and crowded in front of where our table was. We were told we could dance during dinner to the music, but the room was so crowded that there was no place to dance (except maybe on a table.) When it was time for the fireworks the deck was packed, many people were smoking cigarettes making the air barely breathable, children were running around unattended and running into passengers. Our wait staff was very friendly though they seemed a little frazzled. I asked someone who worked there how we could have such a horrible experience after having such a good one just one year earlier and was told that Fridays are always like this. I am not sure if I will ever return after the horrible experience, but I would say do not book this on a Friday. We payed over $300.00 and it was one of the worst experience ever. Save your money and stand on the beach to watch the fireworks.
