"Learn about native people and island folklore through the lens of the surrounding sea."

I went on two ocean excursions with this wonderful crew. You knew they were long time locals because they had such colorful tales to tell about native people and how they used the land and the sea for food, spirituality, battle. Kona Ocean Experience tours were rich in cultural reflections and ocean ecology. After listening to the stories they shared, I want to learn more about the customs of ancient Hawaii and present day practices to protect this natural wonderland.

I had a wonderful snorkeling trip with Kona Ocean Experience. We went in the water twice, one up north where we found some dolphins, and one in kelakekua bay where we saw lots of tropical fish. Also we stopped by few landmarks where we were able to learn a brief history of hawaii which added a lot of fun to the trip.

"What a great morning!"

I had never snorkeled before, and was a bit nervous about trying it for the first time--but I had no problem with it, and had a wonderful morning. Captain Randy was great--he called out instructions from the boat on where we should be looking for the dolphins. ("Look down!" he shouted, and there they were below me!) Kealakekua Bay was spectacular, and as we left it, several dolphins swam right alongside our boat. It was really fun, really beautiful, and I am so glad I did it!

Our Captain and the owner Bambi is so wonderfully informed and respectful of the ocean, the dolphins and the culture of Hawaii. Her stories and knowledge of the history of the land and her deep respect for the animals of the ocean are authentic and were deeply appreciated by our group and I'm sure the animals themselves. A beautiful experience in every way. Mahalo Bambi for your thoughtful compassionate aloha for Hawaii nei.
