"Real experience of sea creatures and the history of Hawai'i!!!"

Thanks to Bambi for the wonderful tour. My family and I did the morning dolphin swim and snorkel. It was my mom's 3rd time trying to swim with dolphins, and she had no luck the last 2 times. However this time, Bambi knew exactly what she was doing and we were able to swim and see dolphins very closely!!! Emotional for sure! We were also greeted by Manta as soon as the boat left and also turtle came to say good bye at the end. Along the way, Bambi would stop and explain the history of Hawai'i. Which is very important to know regardless of loco or traveller, I think. Overall, a fantastic experience and I will recommend to anyone who goes to the Big Island!!!

We took the sunset Manta snorkeling tour. They start with a short cruise along the shore and gave us a small history lesson about the events along this coast. This definetely is the team to choose if you are a family of 5 or 6. Small boat and caring crew. Not those huge boats... Our yougest didn’t want to go in the water but Bambi (the captain) took care of him for the entire dive and he just loved her (even though he didn’t speak English...) My wife and daughter got sea sick and we could aborted the cruise a little ahead since we had the entire boat for ourselves. And did I mentionned we saw tons of rays? This is a tour where you’re actually treated like a friend. Thank you!

"Awesome day out with Captain Justin"
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5
Reviewed May 06, 2018
We booked at the last minute while in Kona on the Pride of America. The owner was able to arrange an afternoon our for our family of 4 (2a 2c) at a reasonable price. Instructions to the slipway were clear and we were able to grab an uber for around $15. The captain was capable, friendly, informative. Was great with our two children, pointing out spots along the way. It was awesome having the boat to ourselves so we could spread our gear out and be comfortable. The snorkelling by the Captain Cook monument was fantastic and we were lucky enough to have a pod of spinner dolphins swimming in the cove for more than 30 mins, allowing our son to follow them at a distance. There were a lot of other very full boats there that day as it was a cruise port day (Wed) but still lots of room to explore. Totally recommend this business and their allaround professionalism.

"small group advantages and disadvantages"

We did both, swim with Dolphins in the morning and Manta Rays swim at night. Captain Justin was with us in the morning and we liked his genuine and easy going personality and the atmosphere he created . You can see how much he wanted us to have great experiences which we did. There were only four of us on this tour and we thought that the small group is great for swimming with dolphins as we were getting in and out of the boat several times fast. But for Manta swim we think that a larger boat would be better. They use lights to attract a plankton and larger boats had much stronger lights. the whole Manta swim was pretty wild experience. The waves were big the night we did it and there are just way too many people there. Mantas are magic though.

"Fabulous manta dive with our adult paraplegic son!"
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5

Went out with Capt. Bambi and Capt. Gio and pro diver Tara, and our adult sons with partners: 6 of us with 3 prof crew. My younger son mobilizes with a wheelchair and is a strong paraplegic, and Kona Ocean Experience totally helped us with the minor adaptations so we all could enjoy the manta dive safely. No problem! If you have some mobility or disability issues but really want to do this manta dive (it's amazing! don't miss it!), please call Kona Ocean Experience. They were so accommodating! The mantas were amazing and we were all so grateful to the crew for such a fun experience!
