Right from the time I made my first call to Bambi to indicate fin sizes, the experience has been wonderful. My wife and I, on the first day of our first visit to Hawaii, couldn't have had a better beginning to our vacation as we had the boat exclusively to ourselves with an able captain in Bambi. We set out into the sea on a clear warm Sunday afternoon, just the three of us. Bambi is extremely passionate about what she does, and shares the knowledge that can come only with such passion for the coast, sea, the land and the people of the island. It was a smooth ride as we stopped at sites that are best enjoyed from sea - remnants of volcanic calderas, collapsed lava tubes, black crabs and other shelled sea creatures. She is a good entertainer, and kept us entertained with stories from Hawaiian history and folklore all through. After a smooth boat ride, we reached Kealakekua Bay, and off we were, snorkeling those wonderful waters. Bambi made the whole experience very easy for us, and my wife, who is not very used to the sea, felt very easy taking the plunge with Bambi encouraging her. Others have reviewed in detail about the bay and the snorkeling scene here, so I will not repeat that. It is a must do activity, and I think Kona Ocean Experience is the best way to do this! If you are short on time, or have scheduling conflicts that prevent the earlier 'Swim with the Dolphin' ride or the later 'Manta Ray' experience, this is the best option. They do tours in smaller batches (maximum 6 people), so there is a chance to book the whole boat for your tour group. We are looking forward to our next visit to the Big Island, and for our next tour with Kona Ocean Experience!

Had the pleasure of recently booking two trips with Kona Ocean Experience. Did a the dusk trip to see the mantas and a morning trip to go see the spinner dolphns. Both trips were great and well worth the price.

A good morning to head out after a few days of stormy weather. The sun was out and the ocean was beautiful! It was nice to be out on a smaller boat and not packed in like some of the other boats that I saw that day. Capt. Randy was able to take us out and put us right in line with a pod of dolphins. It was so cool to actually be in the water and be so close to them! Some came within 3 or 4 feet of me as I swam around. After the first pod went by we got back on the boat and within minutes Capt. Randy had us right in the middle of another big pod. So great to swim with these beautiful creatures and be so close! I got some really good videos! After swimming with several pods of dolphins we cruised along to coast (getting a history lesson on stuff I never knew about) to a great snorkel spot with beautiful clear water with shallow and deep reefs. I'm a diver and don't normally do snorkeling anymore, but I'm glad I did. It was a very fun and relaxing day and seemed like the dolphins came a lot closer than I've ever seen them before. ( I guess they like it better when you're not wearing dive gear) Thanks a lot Kona Ocean Exp. & Capt. Randy for fun day! I will do it again when I'm back on the Big Island

"Once in a lifetime...dolphins and sharks...oh my!!"

First stop we were swimming with dolphins for over an hour. Closest we had ever been to the dolphins! Then headed to Captain Cook for crystal clear snorkeling. Steven was a great crew member that had a lot of knowledge about the area and showed us different species of marine life. The best part was when he showed us the reef sharks resting in their cave!!!!!! Bambi the captain is a native Hawaiian that has a unique and accurate knowledge of the history of the island and is a very skilled mariner. The whole experience was very intimate with a small group. We would HIGHLY recommend this tour over all of the larger outfits.

Great night's viewing with this small, personalised operation. Seas a little rough to begin with but perserverence pays off. Thanks Bambi and Murray!
