"Saw whales several times in two hour cruise!!!"

My husband and I took the breakfast whale-watching cruise and were not disappointed! The breakfast consisted of eggs, rice, muffins, and fruit, and was a buffet. We were able to freely roam a three story ship, and were able to get to a rail to see the sights. After about 40 minutes, we saw a mother whale and her baby blow several times and their tails go into the water several times. Very exciting! We would definitely go again

"Many whale sightings and a few BREACHES!!!!"

I am an activity wholesaler in Waikiki. This is one of the activities we offer. I had been on the Star of Honolulu dinner cruise and it by far my favorite. This review is unbiased. If I try an activity or tour that I don't believe it is good, I just won't write a review. So, as far as this trip is concerned, it was AWESOME! We went last Tues on the lunch cruise. We had the premium lunch. I highly highly recommend it. The food was fresh, well presented and they had plenty of staff to serve us. The roast beef carving station was my favorite and also the desert cakes were so moist and delicious. It is worth every penny for sure. The only problem I had with the lunch, which wasn't a bad thing is that we started seeing whales almost immediately and I didn't want to miss any so I was up and down back and forth until I just had to ignore the whales for a few minutes so I could finish my lunch while it was still hot. We saw whales coming up for air, we saw 3 whales breach the surface and even saw one whale pec slapping as if he was waiving at us. This cruise was so much fun especially for those of us taking pictures and videos. Everyone of all ages both men and women were shrieking with excitement. And you never know which side they will appear so there is a lot of running from one side to the other at times. But the Captain did a great job of positioning the boat to one side of where the most action was taking place. There was also a young woman that educated us on the Humpback whale. She was very informative and interesting. There was live entertainment which was great and although it was a very warm day the inside of the cabin had plenty of cold A/C blowing.Their were also other cultural activities towards the end which I really appreciate so on those rare days when there aren't any or minimum sightings you have something fun to do. You might as well say that a fresh lei comes with this cruise (if you are willing to put it together in their lei making station) I didn't, I wanted to but the best sightings and breaches came at the end. The service and quality of this experience is a must do during whale season. Finally, I would like to comment on unfavorable comment or 2 about no whale sightings. This is nature people. You aren't at a tank at Seaworld. The cruise guarantees whales and if you don't see them, then you get to come back again until you do and although it would be disappointing to not see any, it is still a very fun and entertainment filled cruise! So my suggestion to tourists would be schedule this cruise at the beginning of your stay just in case you need to try a second time. You can see by most of the other comments that whales are almost always seen, but if you are on the unlucky day, you will have time to go again if you schedule this at the beginning of your vacation. And I don't know about you but any day out on the ocean is a great day! So getting a second free cruise would be awesome!

"Short relaxing cruise"

We took the early bird cruise with the optional breakfast buffet. The food was adequate but if you have time to eat before the cruise then I would skip the breakfast. I don't know if there is a difference in whale activity between morning and afternoon or if we just had bad luck but we only had two short glimpses of humpback. Two whales surfaced for a few seconds but never resurfaced. Neither breached the water but one did lift its tail. Returning to port we saw a pod of over a dozen spinner dolphins. If you only want to go on this cruise in order to see many whales you're taking a gamble. But if you can enjoy a beautiful, relaxing cruise with a gorgeous view of the coastline it's well worth it. We had a great time even with minimal sighting of whales.

You can make laid, learn the hula, or learn to play the ukulele. Entertainer is good at his job so it's a fun time
