"Great Time!"
January, 2019 NEW
We took the raft for whale watching. It's a Navy Seal raft so you go fast and hold on tight. You might be a little sore the next day but the ride and view was worth the trip even if you don't see whales. My 10 year old loved the ride itself.

You will get wet. Our ponchos were futile. Sunglasses and sunscreen recommended.

We saw lots of spray and when we didn't think we'd see much, a whale jumped right in front of us (101 feet away)! Crew was knowledgeable, answering our questions and concerned about our safety and comfort with seasickness remedies on the ready.

Will book again if ever return to this area.

"A Whale of a Show"

Departing from Port Allen on a 65’ catamaran my wife and I and approximately 40 other folks embarked on our dedicated 2 hour whale watching adventure. We were not disappointed. We listened with an underwater hydrophone to capture whale sounds but were not successful. However, the captain played a previous recording that seemed to attract the whales. We were fortunate to sight a number of whales, including one energetic fellow who put on a continuous tail slapping show. Friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating crew. Various soft drinks, beer, mai tai’s and appetizers, including cookies at the end. A truly delightful time.

"Napoli coast rafting tour"

Our family of 5, 3 young adult children, went on a rafting tour yesterday and we had a great time. We were told the raft could accommodate 14 people but we were the only ones on the tour. Chris, the captain was very knowledgeable and Noah the first mate was very friendly and accommodating. The water was a little rough but Chris assured us safety was the priority and for this reason we were unable to go into the caves. We saw the Napoli coast from a perspective we would never have been able to see from a helicopter. We also saw a few whales and a sea turtle while we were out. It was a fun 1/2 day excursion and I highly recommend Kauai Sea Tours!

"Shoreline cruise not a whale watching cruise"
TripAdvisor user rating 2 out of 5

This is described as a whale watching trip, but it is a booze cruise. We went along the coast and heard some things about the coast and then went out a bit and headed back to the harbor and watched for whales. The description says learn about whale biology, and behavior. Not one thing was mentioned about whales. This was a shoreline cruise, which is fine but do not call it a whale watching cruise call it a shore line cruise. The attendants on the boat were awesome though and the only reason I gave two stars. I let the hotel activity desk know the difference in the cruises.

I booked this without doing too much research - I was told it was an adventure tour with snorkeling and thought "Sure!". I have no idea how much of an adventure it was going to be! The boat is a 24' Rubber Boat like what you see the Navy seals use. There are no seats - you sit on the edge and stick your toes underneath a rope on the floor of the boat, and there are a few ropes running along the side that you can hold on to. And then within the first 5 minutes off you go - Zooooomm out to sea! We lucked out with calm, clear morning weather (departure about 7:30am) and I was still shocked at how big the swells were and how bouncy the ride was! They're not kidding when they say you need to be fit, and have no back, neck, or knee problems. It's crazy out there! We cruised for about 45 minutes from Port Allen heading west. Beautiful view of Hanalei and some military bases, and missile testing site.... But the bumps and waves are continuous pretty much the whole time. We ended up around at the north shore at the beginning of the Na'Pali coast - we lucked out and saw dolphins and monk seals and a huge Turtle! But even on this calm day the waves rocked us, so every time we stopped I got seasick. No one's fault but my own, but simply a word of warning if you are slightly susceptible it will probably happen to you on this trip (I did take preventative pills and wear a motion sickness watch,..I tried!). But getting up that close to the coastline was spectacular - you can see into the valleys and waterfalls, and we even went into two sea caves. We stopped for some snorkeling (underwhelming, simply boulders and about 15 fish), sandwiches and potatoe chip lunch. The cruise back to Port Allen takes about 90 minutes back onto bumpy swells - we ventured quite a bit offshore the attempt to see humpback whales and we were successful! A mama and baby in the distance - very cool to see. Then we head back into the big swells and waves returning into the marina - a few passengers were really getting into it and loving the adrenaline rush, riding "cowboy style" with one hand up in the air! (I was not quite as brave and held on with both hands at all times, ha!) They still earned four stars as the captain Sky and first mate Nono were wonderful! Courteous, funny, entertaining, etc.

Such an amazing way to experience the Na'Pali coast and see the magic that it holds! It took a while to reach Na'Pali but it was so worth it and the views were breathtaking! Because we went in Dec it was whale season and we also some turtles and dolphins. The tour guides were great and it was so much fun! Definitely wear comfortable close as this is not a fancy dinner cruise. Our group sat up top but I wandered off to the front of the boat for the views and picture-taking; we did hit one big wave that soaked us and also resulted in a woman slipping and falling - be ready for anything and hold on! They kept the drinks rolling which was nice and they offered info as we passed by notable parts of the island- good tunes too! The dinner was basic but appreciated nonetheless; if you're gluten-free or have any allergies definitely pack your own snacks. Otherwise this was an incredible experience and would definitely do it again!
