Description

from Pearl Harbor Remembered
At the Pacific Historic Parks Pearl Harbor Visitor Center, exhibits, detailed replicas, and media displays tell the story of World War II and the attack on Pearl Harbor and its aftermath, bringing it intimately to life.

On the USS Arizona Memorial, built over the remains of the sunken ship, visitors pause to reflect on the familiar date of the attack in December 1941. Aboard “Mighty Mo,” the USS Missouri, discover a copy of the signed surrender document that ended the war and learn about the battleship’s wartime history. Visit the USS Oklahoma Memorial, which stands as a monument to those who lost their lives on that ship during the attack.

Your tour continues with a drive through the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl Crater. Here, 38,000 markers pay tribute to the men and women of the US Armed Forces who have sacrificed for their country.

Next, head through downtown Honolulu, passing the historic ‘Iolani Palace – official residence of Hawaii’s monarchy and Oahu’s iconic King Kamehameha Statue before arriving at your final stop, the Home of the Brave Museum. This highly-rated museum honors those who bravely served during World War II. Step back in time and explore the sights and sounds of an era that changed history through artifacts, photographs, and stories of courage from veterans of WWII.

""Cousin" Brandon was a nightmare "

We had high hopes for our tour and no doubt Pearl Harbor was amazing. However, our tour guide Brandon (he asked to be called Cousin Brandon), was a complete nightmare and made everyone on the bus uncomfortable to the point that no one spoke or asked any questions. It started innocently enough when an 8 year old in our party began to ask questions but Brandon got tired of the back and forth and began to lecture the group about respect and why kids need to learn about respect. He then asked the group if we minded if someone without any kids (i.e., him) gave parenting advice. When someone in another group (not with us) responded that he did not want to hear any advice, Brandon called him out and asked him to identify himself. Needless to say, Brandon decided to give a lecture on parenting and why corporal punishment was necessary and how in Oahu people regularly hit their kids with belts, towels, etc. It was a wonder why he couldn't understand why no one other than the kids continued to engage with him (he chalked it up to us not having had coffee). Because of Brandon's rants we got very little in the way of the history of the island and/or Pearl Harbor. We did hear a lot about how Brandon did have a degree in some science and how kids should become a tour guide. All in all, Pear Harbor was amazing but I would not recommend a tour where Brandon was your tour guide.

This tour, lead and narrated by Alex, provided a great historical perspective of Hawaii and the Islands as we traversed the streets of Honolulu. Once we arrived at Pearl Harbor, he provided sufficient information for the group to get to each place. I do wish we could have spent more time at Pearl Harbor. Food selections are very limited but bottled drinks are plentiful. Visitors must remember that bags of any size are not allowed unless you are going to check them for $4.00 each. We brought only small items that we could easily store in our pockets. The auxiliary coach to Ford Island and the Missouri was a bit overcrowded but not the fault of E Noa Tours. The tour aboard the Missouri was excellent and sufficient in length. At the Punchbowl National Cemetery, Alex positioned the coach so we could get photos as he was not allowed to park in the cemetery itself. All in all, it was a great day and very informative. We certainly recommend it for history enthusiasts.
