Description

from Capt. Andy's Southern Star Napali Snorkel BBQ Sail
This Southern Star sailing adventure gets an early departure from Port Allen on the West shore of Kauai. As we head towards Na Pali you’ll see views of Niihau, Polihale and the ridges of Kokee. The morning departure generally means we have calmer conditions and virtually ensures an encounter with the massive pod of Hawaiian Spinner dolphins that cruise up the coast daily.

Generally, we take a nearshore route up the entire coast then sail downwind offshore so you get a variety of views. On Na Pali, you’ll see spectacular sea cliffs, numerous waterfalls, and lava tubes. Kauai is the oldest of the main Hawaiian islands, and this carved coastline is the result of nearly 8 million years of exposure to wind, waves, and rain. In addition to seagoing skills, our crew is knowledgeable in the history and legends of the ancient civilizations that once inhabited these verdant valleys.

After a relaxing and beautiful downwind sail, we’ll pull into one or our favorite remote snorkel spots. Here, we anchor and passengers can get in the water, or simply relax. After snorkeling the crew prepares a delicious lunch in our onboard kitchen, which we serve with beer and wine (only available after snorkeling). Lastly, we’ll cruise home to Port Allen.

Attire and Facilities: Our passengers enjoy large shaded cabin areas, comfortable cushioned seating, clean restrooms, and fresh water showers. Wear your swimsuits and bring a towel and sunscreen.

Snorkeling, Weather, and Destinations: Snorkel gear and instruction provided. Na Pali Coast and snorkeling are conditions permitting. Tour destination will be determined based on passenger comfort and safety.

Menu:
Continental Breakfast: Assorted pastries, fruit, juice, and coffee.

BBQ Lunch: Your choice of burger, chicken burger or vegetarian burger. Cole Slaw, Baked Beans, Fresh Baked Cookies for dessert. Beer and wine available after snorkeling.

No Children under the age of 3 and women over 26 weeks pregnant allowed.

A nasty patch of roadwork near Princeville almost scuttled Cap't Andy. However we made it because they called us twice and met us as our car arrived to get us on the boat! Great service. Trip was great! Beautiful catamaran and professional crew, good food and drink. The Captain's commentary was good and the Napali Coastline memorable. Be prepared to get wet (fun!) or take weather gear if you stay up front. Can get bumpy at speed against the current (fun!). Photo ops aplenty. Dolphins and sea turtles seen. Beautiful sunset photo ops. Overall: wet and wonderful. We recommend this sunset tour. You will love it. Remember your motion meds if that is a problem for you but we had a memorable trip!! Cruise was 4.5 hours. If in Princeville area allow extra travel time. Trip date was 9-18-17.

This was a great catamaran day trip with snorkeling and lunch. They had a light breakfast on the catamaran when we boarded. The crew was fabulous and truly accommodating. The captain was a local; which means the world when taking any site seeing tour on any of the Hawaiian islands. I enjoyed learning the history of the island. We snorkeled in a nice spot with beautiful fish and turtles for an hour then we boarded the catamaran for lunch. And finally a nice relaxing ride back to the dock. This trip was from 7:30 AM until 3:00 PM. I highly recommend this company and this day trip. Very nice and clean fleet of catamarans.

We had Cap't Cory and crew. Hans was the onboard Chef. For a dinner cruises the food exceeded any expectations . The views unsurpassed, the fun and knowledge of the Cap't, was great. Cory did it local boy style. We had one of those days where everything goes right. The winds and the sea were tame that afternoon.

A water view of this amazingly beautiful coastline is a MUST. The entire Capt Andys staff from booking staff thru Captain and crew were efficient, informative and extremely friendly. Captain Bernard was especially great .The lunch was simple but yummy. My one complaint would be the poor area chosen for our snorkel portion of the trip. We pulled up close to 2 other excursions and there was very little marine life....when I asked about the apparent death of the reef, was told much of the reef in the area looked this way. So sad but not enough to ruin this lovely afternoon. Would do it again!

My wife and I did the "Raft Na Pali Day Expedition" and it was incredible. We had Captain Roy and Jeff and they were hardworking, hilarious, and made the trip quite enjoyable. The website isn't kidding when it says you should be somewhat athletic; we sat on the edge of the rafting boat and they go pretty fast! There are ropes to hold on to and we felt totally safe, but be prepared for an adventure! They stopped along the way and gave us cool facts about the coast, they let us jump off the boat and swim (was so fun), and they prepared a lovely lunch for us when we stopped on a beach. We saw a ton of dolphins, some beautiful fish, mountain goats, and huge turtles and monk seals. Be prepared with sunscreen, a tight fitting hat or visor, and a towel. No need for shoes, we all wore sandals (you go barefoot on the boat anyway) and they gave us dry bags for our phones, towels, etc. There were plenty of older people on this tour, though I didn't see any kids on the day we did it. Highly highly recommend this tour; great day trip for the price!
