Description

from Molokini & Turtle Arches Snorkel Cruise
This 'double the fun' excursion includes snorkeling at Molokini Marine Preserve plus a second snorkel stop at Turtle Arches, a dazzling reef off Maui’s south coast known for its underwater lava arches and large resident population of green sea turtles. Pacific Whale Foundation’s certified marine naturalists give a free guided reef tour to point out sights you could easily miss on your own! We also include all of the snorkel gear, reef safe sunscreen, "learn to snorkel" class for beginners, and a Jr. naturalist program for kids. Each party receives a complimentary color guide, "Enjoying Maui's Unique Ocean Environment" and free dolphin or sea turtle poster. Rash guards are also available for rent (cash only).

Molokini is a world class snorkeling environment inside the protective ring of an ancient volcanic crater, where over 250 marine species thrive in crystal-clear Hawaii waters. The islet's arc shape, the fact that there is little or no soil to run off into the sea, and the relatively shallow, protected waters combine to offer an incredible Maui snorkel experience with excellent visibility. Located just 2.5 miles off the coast of Maui's south shore, Molokini's shallow inner cove provides a unique habitat for fish and coral species, some of which are found nowhere else in the world but Hawaii.

Check in Location: Pacific Whale Foundation Ocean Store at the Harbor Shops at Ma’alaea (next door to the Maui Ocean Center Aquarium)

What to bring: Towel, cover up, hat, sunglasses, extra cash for souvenirs, recreational lifejacket for kids 30lbs and less.

Includes: Reef safe sunscreen, snorkel gear (with optical masks for eyeglass wearers) and flotation devices, free "learn to snorkel" class for beginners, free guided reef tour led by naturalists, free Jr. Naturalist program for kids, plus free color marine life poster.

Barbeque Lunch: onboard grilled chicken breasts, veggie burgers, or hot dogs with all the fixings, homemade rolls, fresh pasta salad, ice cold soda, juice, and filtered water. After 2nd snorkel site, we offer beer, wine, and tropical drinks with proper photo ID.

MAKE SURE YOU READ THE WHOLE REVIEW :) We signed up for a the Molokini snorkel with Trilogy leaving at 7am and although it had been raining previous days, so much so that we couldn’t visit the turtle cove part, we enjoyed the snorkel nonetheless. The water wasn’t too cold and the staff were more than helpful at all times. Food on board was plentiful and so yum!! Snacks including ice cream and free drinks were just a bonus. Our Captain was Casey and she was awesome - very friendly and clearly knew what she was doing. She was so good that our tour accidentally turned into a whale watching/chasing adventure and I’ve added photos of how close this whale got to us! We sat there for a good 15 minutes while it circled around our boat with everyone running from side to side - even the staff were blown away and had their cameras in hand! Absolutely unbelievable. If you really want to see whales, February is the perfect time to go. Last time we came in December and it was a good time to see turtles while snorkelling but only saw fish this time (still beautiful clear water!) As we pulled back into the harbour the song ‘It’s a great day to be alive’ played and it was simply perfect. Make sure to plan ahead and try and get a sunny day. We were recommended trilogy as they take less people so it’s not as crowded and it was definitely worth every single cent! You will need to rent a car or catch a taxi to the harbour - we did a taxi but Uber may be even cheaper

The tour people picked us up at our accommodation, the we went to the harbour to board the boat. We were served a light breakfast upon boarding. The water was as clear as anything, you can see fish swimming next to the boat. We snorkeled for about 2hrs there, then boarded again, served a beautiful lunch, then went to Turtle town, where we snorkeled again for about 1.5 hrs. Once finishing snorkeling, the bar opened and we were treated to some nice cocktails. An excellent day, but unfortunately, I didn't see any turtles. Maybe next time.

Just got back from the trip on board Trilogy V. Crew was awesome and made sure everyone had a great time. Only saw one small turtle but will go back on own. Molokini was beautiful and saw an eel eating a deceased octopus which was cool. Highly recommend this place. Food was good and for the extra money I feel we got first class service. Crew was awesome, friendly and learned a great deal from them.

Crew was friendly and knowledgeable. Equipment was well maintained and mask for glasses wearers was very helpful. Food was good and crew was very attentive, especially with a diverse group of people. We saw a few Humpback Whales in our voyage. Trilogy really takes care of the guests and is worth every penny. We have snorkeled while visiting Maui and Trilogy is by far the best.
