from Molokini & Turtle Arches Snorkel Cruise
This 'double the fun' excursion includes snorkeling at Molokini Marine Preserve plus a second snorkel stop at Turtle Arches, a dazzling reef off Maui’s south coast known for its underwater lava arches and large resident population of green sea turtles. Pacific Whale Foundation’s certified marine naturalists give a free guided reef tour to point out sights you could easily miss on your own! We also include all of the snorkel gear, reef safe sunscreen, "learn to snorkel" class for beginners, and a Jr. naturalist program for kids. Each party receives a complimentary color guide, "Enjoying Maui's Unique Ocean Environment" and free dolphin or sea turtle poster. Rash guards are also available for rent (cash only).

Molokini is a world class snorkeling environment inside the protective ring of an ancient volcanic crater, where over 250 marine species thrive in crystal-clear Hawaii waters. The islet's arc shape, the fact that there is little or no soil to run off into the sea, and the relatively shallow, protected waters combine to offer an incredible Maui snorkel experience with excellent visibility. Located just 2.5 miles off the coast of Maui's south shore, Molokini's shallow inner cove provides a unique habitat for fish and coral species, some of which are found nowhere else in the world but Hawaii.

Check in Location: Pacific Whale Foundation Ocean Store at the Harbor Shops at Ma’alaea (next door to the Maui Ocean Center Aquarium)

What to bring: Towel, cover up, hat, sunglasses, extra cash for souvenirs, recreational lifejacket for kids 30lbs and less.

Crew was friendly and knowledgeable. Equipment was well maintained and mask for glasses wearers was very helpful. Food was good and crew was very attentive, especially with a diverse group of people. We saw a few Humpback Whales in our voyage. Trilogy really takes care of the guests and is worth every penny. We have snorkeled while visiting Maui and Trilogy is by far the best.

"First time snorkeling--good experience"

The best part of this trip was that there were professionals there at all time to ensure our safety. My husband got to swim with a turtle, but when he was getting to close to the coral, there was a lifeguard right there to keep him at bay. When I came up and pulled off my mask, a lifeguard came upon me and asked if all was well. The experience was wonderful. Saw lots of fish and a whale breach 20 ft into the sky. Worth every penny. Food was good too.

We had a fabulous day snorkeling with our kids. It's insane to think that on Christmas day when the rest of the East Coast is freezing that you could be swimming in the ocean looking at fish. Then add the fact that what's doing by Molokini Island is amazingly cool. They served lunch on the boat and had a slide, which the kids loved as well. As for the pictures, they let you rent individual cameras, but we bought the disk for $60 where they had a staff member taking pictures. If you get 1 or 2 great shots, it's totally worth it. Highly recommend this excursion. Well worth the price!

Today we went on the trilogy five boat. Our guides, Willie, Nick, Jim, along with captain Martin were very skilled, hospitable as well as knowledgeable. Captain Martin even let my daughter Charlee, drive the boat for a few minutes during the trip. This was very exciting. We got to see two whales breach simultaneously on the backside of Molokini island. The snorkeling that we encountered was on coral gardens and it was really beautiful. Lots of good large fish and very colorful coral. The food is very excellent, and they serve seconds. They also offer delicious mai tais and unlimited drinks and ice cream for the kids! I'd highly recommend this trip. We are going to do it again for sure!

"Lanai snorkeling trip aboard Pacific Whale Foundation Ocean Quest"
TripAdvisor user rating 3 out of 5

12/26/16 we did the Pacific Whale Foundation Lanai snorkeling and dolphin watch trip. Here's my view of the trip: * Crew was amazing and a lot of fun. * Boat was fairly clean * The "heads" smelled badly - REALLY badly. Woah!! * Many people were seasick * The Ocean Quest was jammed with people. * The kids (17 and 19) saw several big fish and a couple of turtles. My suggestion for those considering this: stay up ON TOP of the boat. Get there early to pick your seat. Also: if you are going out of Lahaina and not Maalea then parking is a big issue and you will want to go past the PWF office about 2-3 blocks and look for the underground parking which is $8.50 fo the day. Parking behind PWF was $18 for the excursion.
