"Fun aboard the Four Winds II"
April, 2018
We had an Excellent time on the Morning sail of the Four Winds II. The trip to Molokini was fantastic and we saw plenty of Whales along the way. we spent 2 hours at the Crater and had a great time swimming in the crystal clear water with endless fishes. We saw Dolphins, Moral Eels, Octopus, and thousands of fish. Even heard the Whale song under the Water. Food was good and there was plentiful alcohol after we finished Snorkelling and right up to the Harbour. Wine was not the best but there was plenty of it!

"Perfect for non-swimmers"

Wonderful tour with a very kind crew. My husband and I went snorkeling at Molokini and on the way there and back we saw whales in every direction! We were served a light breakfast before getting in the water and snorkeled for about two hours. They provide many different flotation devices and the snorkeling belt was perfect for non-swimmers. Unfortunately, there really wasn’t much marine life at the spot and weren’t able to see much aside from maybe a handful of fishes. Slightly disappointed considering all the hype of seeing different marine life on the site and reviews. We were served a delicious lunch (chicken, burger, pulled pork, veggie burger, or hot dogs) and made our way back to the harbor. The photographer on board was amazing and took a lot of pictures available for purchase at the end of the trip. Overall a very nice tour, just wished there was more marine life since that was the main point of the trip.

"Molokini SNUBA excursion"

I can't begin to say enough wonderful things regarding this excursion. They were organized, fun and extremely knowledgeable. I was nervous about SNUBA for the first time. The instruction was patient and made me feel so comfortable...and just as he said, I LOVED every minute of it. The photographer and all things digital was fabulous. He hooked us up with a digital camera for underwater, as well as taking some great photos and videos of us while we were underwater. BONUS: Tons of whale sightings. WONDERFUL TOUR. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CHARTER.

"Best Snorkeling - Molokini"

One of the best experiences we had at Maui. My family of 5 went on a snorkeling trip on a calm beautiful afternoon day in January, 2019. It was about 25 min car ride from Kihei to the harbor. We were so fortunate on this day because the winds were calm and so we were able to go to the Molokini crater. I was told that it is rare that they go out to Molokini in the afternoon at this time of the year because of the trade winds. There were about 20 people and it was a perfect size. The crew was absolutely terrific. I have been to other boating trips and I would have to say they were the top notch crew. They made our trip so enjoyable. They provided delicious lunch(choice of chicken, burger, hot dog or pork) and alcoholic beverage. Also, they had prescription goggles which were so helpful for me since I wear glasses. We stopped to watch whales along the way. We left around 1:30PM and came back to the shore around 5PM. The captain was great and he made sure that everyone had a great time. He also never pressured us to tip the crew that you would normally see at other excursions. I was more than happy to leave gratituty for the crew. I’d highly recommend Four Winds for snorkeling.

Four winds II is our favorite, time after time visiting Maui. BBQ, good vibes, super hospitable crew, great music, amazing views and snorkeling! We have brought family of all ages on this boat and everyone is happy! The glass bottom and waterside keep the kids happy, while the laid back feel and drinks keep the adults happy. So much aloha to Greg and the rest of the crew to keep us coming back.

"World class customer service with great snorkeling as a bonus"

I just wanted to make sure I stopped by to give the crew of the Four Winds II a shout-out. My family and I spent last week on Maui and did not know which company to book for a last-second snorkeling trip we decided to try. The day before we were able to secure a reservation on the Four Winds II in Wailuku. I am SO GLAD we did! From the gentlemen at the check in desk to the last crew members to say "Mahalo" as you disembark, every member of the Four Winds II crew was polite, friendly, helpful, funny, and very informative. At no point did I feel like they were just there "doing their job". They truly seemed to enjoy what they do, and are really good at it. They provide all of the gear for snorkeling, plus options for those who maybe just want to float on the water, or even go deep with the Snuba! The photographer on board was very helpful in explaining the best way to use our GoPro in the water, and took really nice shots of our family. He was really patient with our kids and got some nice photos that we were happy to purchase afterward. The captain took his time to stop when we saw several whales and dolphins on the trip out and back from Molokini. Also, the Four Winds II was pretty much the last boat to leave the crater... I felt like we got the most bang for our buck on the Four Winds II compared to the other companies we looked up. The food was good, with options for the whole family. I recommend the morning trip as they provide breakfast and lunch, plus you beat the heat of the midday trip (also, it tends to get a little windy later in the day during the winter months). Thank you to the crew of the Four Winds II, you were a class act! We'll see you the next time we're on Maui!

Frequently Asked Questions about Molokini Snorkel Trip Aboard the Four Winds II

Is this a kid-friendly activity?
Yes. The Four Winds II is the best vessel for families and groups with young children and the elderly. The boat offers glass bottom viewing, which young children find fascinating.

What type of sunscreen should I bring?
We ask that guests do not bring spray-on sunscreen. Spray-on sunscreen gets picked up by the winds and causes slippery decks around the boat which result in a safety hazard for our guests. With this in mind, we recommend that guests bring a squeeze-type lotion with an SPF of 15 or higher.

Are strollers allowed onboard?
Yes. Strollers must be collapsible in order to be onboard.

Are life vests available onboard?
Absolutely. We carry child and adult sized life vests at all times.

Can I participate if pregnant?
Our vessels are very safe and stable and often accommodate pregnant guests. Many even go snorkeling too! Ultimately, when it comes to a pregnancy, it is always best to ask your doctor if they feel it is safe for you to be on a boat or go snorkeling. Each pregnancy is different and you and your doctor know what is best.

Is a lifeguard available during the snorkel portion of the trip?
We have what we like to refer to as our "Ocean Safety Crew". This is a dedicated crew member, who is on a large surfboard that keeps a watchful eye on all our folks in the water. They even provide assistance with your snorkel gear if you are having any problems.

While they serve the same function that a lifeguard does on shore, they are not lifeguard certified. However, all our crew members are highly competent in the water and are also Red Cross certified in both First Aid and CPR. So you, and your children, are in good hands, both in and out of the water.

How much will it cost me to park at the harbor?
The cost of parking is .50 cents per hour or $12 for a 24 hour period.

Do I need to bring cash or can I purchase items onboard with a credit card?
You can use a credit card onboard to purchase SNUBA. However purchases for wetsuit rentals and underwater camera rental, a video of your trip, or tee shirts require cash. It is also handy to have a little cash with you, should you want to leave a gratuity for the crew.

Are flotation devices available?
We provide (free of charge) Sea Boards (or View Boards as some call them), Boogie Boards, and Sea Belts (a specialized snorkeling floatation belt that makes it possible for even non-swimmers to enjoy snorkeling) for anyone who needs them.

Can I bring my own snorkel gear?
Sure! If you own your own mask, snorkel or set of fins we would definitely encourage you to bring what you feel comfortable snorkeling with. However, in the event you do not, we do provide you with snorkel, mask, and fins for free.

How long will I be allowed to snorkel for?
Guests enjoy over 2 hours of snorkel time at our destinations.

Are vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free food options available onboard?
We do have vegetarian burgers (Boca Burgers). However, we do not have any vegan menu items. If you do have special dietary requirements you are most welcome to bring your own food onboard the boat. If you do bring foods, please bring them in a small cooler bag as our galley space is limited and we can not refrigerate anything for you.

With regards to a gluten-free menu, our Morning Snorkel Trip includes a Gluten-Free selection of BBQ pulled-pork and marinated chicken breasts for lunch. We also have lettuce, tomatoes, pickles and onions that can accompany the BBQ pulled-pork and chicken breast. While we don't have Gluten-Free buns, you are welcome to use your own or use some lettuce leaves. For breakfast, we offer tropical fruit and cream cheese. You are more than welcome to bring your own Gluten-Free muffin or pastry. The Afternoon Snorkel Trip offers Gluten-Free all-beef hamburger patties (with no filler) and Gluten-Free marinated chicken breasts with all the above mentioned trimmings.

Can I buy aspirin or Dramamine onboard?
No, due to health laws and the risks involved with dispensing any types of medications, we can not provide these items to you. If you require any medication or think you may need some, please bring it with you.

What should I bring onboard?
We recommend that guests bring a towel, extra cash, sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, and a camera in addition to appropriate beach and swim attire.

Are wheelchairs allowed onboard?
Yes! The Four Winds II can accommodate wheelchairs on a daily basis. Please keep in mind that whomever requires the wheelchair will initially need carried up a couple of stairs or walk up, on their own, a couple of stairs to get onboard. Our crew will assist you in accomplishing this. Once onboard the wheelchair can be used.
