"Best thing we did in Maui!"

Riding a horse along the ocean was always on my bucket list. I am glad I chose the Mandes Ranch. The employees at the ranch were very friendly and helpful. The views that we saw on our ride were the best that we saw on our trip.

This was the most incredible experience for my family....amazing cliffside scenery, lots of different terrain, well-behaved and cared for horses and of course breathtaking ocean views. Our guides told many stories about the land and its history along the way. Barbecue lunch was tasty as well. A must-do if you enjoy horseback riding.

"SO MUCH FUN!!!!"

This was the best trail ride EVER! The views were absolutely stunning and the cowboys were very knowledgable, informative, funny and entertaining. We did this ride a few weeks ago (end of January) and we saw SO MANY whales breach/active whales. I had only been on one trail ride before, so I consider myself a very beginner rider, I was nervous, but the horses were very good about reading the riders personalities. My horse did exactly what I wanted (would go faster/slower/turned whatever way I wanted). We had so much fun, I definitely recommend this. The best part yet- you are on a cliff along the shoreline, and it feels like you and the people you are with are the only people on the island. It is absolutely breath taking! One recommendation I would have is to be prepared for rain, this was the only time we encountered any rain on our entire 8 day trip. it only rained for a short while but it was muddy and slippery.

"Ride horses, gallop, and see whales what else you want?"

We rode through the Mendes' extensive ranch and had exquisite views of the Pacific Ocean from Maui's East side. We saw several (more than 10) whale spouts, breaches, and tail flaps as we rode along the trail. There were two points where we could gallop, which was fun. The trail guides took many pictures for each group using your own camera.

"worn out horses"

First thing I noticed before the horses were assigned was that the guides all wore spurs. They had to use the spurs to make the horses move. I watched fellow riders dig their heels into the horses flanks to make them move but with no success. The ride is down a steep rocky path and on the return up hill my horse has to stop and rest while it huffed and puffed with very labored breathing. I suppose if you've never rode a horse and get excited just sitting on a horse then this ride will suffice. The guide said the horses work 6 out of 7 days a week.
