A great time with the Pacific Whale Foundation and their Molokini Wild Side Eco-Adventure. An early 7:30 a.m. start we set off from Ma'alaea in the Ocean Explorer with three very professional staff for our snorkeling adventure, stopping or slowing on route to watch the Humpback Whales. A fabulous day with lunch severed on route back to port around 1:30 p.m.

The ship was very smooth, there were so many whales that we didn't have to go very far. The crew was great, only negative was that the ship was full so had to look over or around others, but with so many whales it wasn't really an issue.

"Whale watching and souvenir!"

We checked in at 11:45 as advised for our 12:30 tour at the Pacific Whale Foundation store and it was a pretty quick check in. The passengers were told after checking in to meet in front of the store at 12:10 to be led down the walkway to the boat ramp. This give you some time to shop around. They take photos of your party before getting on the boat which causes a slow down when boarding. You can opt to purchase the souvenir for $20 after the boat returns to the harbor. The waters was choppy on the day we went but we did see 3 groups of whale (total 8 whales) during the 2 hour tour. It was great as we saw whales breaching, tail slaps and a couple "flying pickles" (what they referred to when a calf breaches). It's difficult to walk around on the outside deck when the boat is moving but it does stop when near the whales so then you can walk carefully over to other viewing sides. The only thing that was a bit annoying is that the Captain politely asked for tips for his crew as we were returning to the harbor. I mean it's ok to let us know they are volunteers. We saw the tip jar and we did leave a tip for the great job but I think it would be better if you didn't repeat this request twice.

"A little disappointed! 😔"

Overall the trip was OK. We did not see as many whales as we'd like. Most were too far away...very few were close and that was only by surprise by the whales. The main thing my kids were looking forward to was the opportunity to hear the whales under water, as we were told would happen, however this did not happen. They were very disappointed!!
