"Bad experience at Pearl Harbor with Roberts driver"
TripAdvisor user rating 1 out of 5

We went on the Pearl Harbor tour and Roberts Hawaii was the service taking us to he Missouri from the main Pearl Harbor site. I had bought a small can of macadamia nuts. As we went to get on the bus, the driver, Eddie, pointed at me, shook his head and waved s back. I asked and he said I had to throw them out. He then walked over to the staff collecting tickets and pointed at me while talking to them. The whole experience was a case of an extremely rude individual who has no business working in a "people"business. We have stayed away from Oahu because of this type of attitude, and it will probably be a lot of years before we return-Maui is so different!

"Exceeded Our Expectataions"

We recently took NCL's Pride of America cruise and booked all of our excursions, except the final one, through Roberts Hawaii. The bus drivers/tour guides were all excellent - great personalities and very knowledgeable. The ship's tour guide for our last day excursion to Pearl Harbor sounded tongue-tied by comparison. We saw essentially the same sights as offered by the ship but saved money by buying Roberts' bundled packages. If I had any complaint, it would be that I thought we spent too much time at some locations with "buying" opportunities - coffee, nuts, etc. But I understand that shopping is high on a lot of tourists' priority list, and others may have enjoyed having that much time to shop.

"Be careful with your shuttle reservations from the airport..."

Made a reservation for round trip HNL to hotel on their web site which included details of flights and pick up times. Found the yellow shirted staff next to baggage claim but their tablet computer did not list the reservation and the staff were clueless about what to do with the paper copy of the reservation which included their ad and all of the reservation details. Staff could not get the home office on the phone, so put me on the bus after twenty minutes of machination. Called the reservation line to make sure the return was listed and it was.

"Very informative and insightful"

Neither my wife nor I have ever been to Hawaii. So we decided to book an island circle tour using our Go Oahu card. We made a phone call to the company 2 days in advance and they were able to accommodate us on short notice. Our tour guide picked us up at our hotel at 7:45am just as our confirmation email had stated (so prompt). If you're planning to take this circle tour expect for it take the entire day because we arrived back at our hotel around 4pm. We were greeted by a jolly and friendly local named Brandon. He was very polite, courteous, and welcoming. Throughout our tour he offered a lot of historic knowledge of all the landmarks we visited and even taught us a bit of the Hawaiian language and how each street name carries a significance. He drove as he had a headset microphone. He had excellent driving skills and good control. Here's a brief outline of our circle tour (note: we had about 20-30 minutes to look around and take photos at each stop, which was more than enough time): -Diamond head: only passed it. Didn't get a chance to stop and walk around. -Hanauma Bay -Waimanalo Town: our brief restroom stop and gift shop -Coral Kindgom for lunch and restroom stop -Nu`uanu Pali Lookout: beautiful view! -Macadamia Nut Outlet: I love macadamia nuts so this stop was delicious. They even had free samples of their flavors. -Dole Plantation: after hearing so much about this place and finally being able to visit, I wish we had more time to stay. We had about 50 minutes designated to this stop, but this simply isn't enough time to enjoy a dole whip and tour the grounds. The line was so long that by the time we got our dole whip we needed to eat it on the way back to the bus. We may need to come back on a separate day to check out the train ride and the rest of the plantation. This tour gave me and my wife a better idea of what Oahu has to offer. So if you're brand new to Hawaii and you have no idea where to start exploring in Oahu, this tour is for you! Brandon is the standard of how all tour guides should be: intelligent, knowledgable of the local landscape and history, friendly, inviting, and witty. Thank you, cuz!

Robert's seems to be THE big bus tour company on Oahu. They offer excursions that fulfill most Hawaii bucket list items and yet won't break your bank. We purchased tickets for our Pearl Harbor tour last month. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and appreciated the guide's insights and unique humor. Great job Roberts!
