This is the best education on the history of Hawaii. I learned so much and our tour guide was amazing. This is such a cool place and you could be here for forever. I would recommend the guided tours then go explore on your own. You will get so much more out of it! This was on our last day there, and my brother whom lived there heard poor reviews and they are WRONG! If you want history of Hawaii and about the culture you need to go here!

There are a lot of exhibits reflecting Hawaiian history..I was very involved for the first floor..by the third floor..less interested..we went over to some type of science building and attended the lava show...that event was extremely interesting especially considering what was happening on the big island of Hawaii.

"Awesome museum with many educational displays "

This very large and amazing museum had plenty to see, experience and learn. Had I known there was this much to see here I would have spent an entire day, but unfortunately I came in the mid afternoon and only had a couple hours to try to see as much as I could which was obviously insufficient for the amount of things to see on display here. There was plenty of parking space in the parking lot here. This museum is very big so you should give yourself several hours (preferably all day) if you want to see everything and take your time exploring the exhibits. I explored the Hawaiian hall which has the exhibit VOYAGERS showcasing the history and culture of Hawaii and Polynesia. Impressive display of artifacts and cultural objects! Lots to learn and look at! I highly recommend visiting this museum in Honolulu. It is NOT cheap, but if you like history, culture and learning then it is definitely worth visiting. I will add that in case you get hungry there are plenty of dining options at the nearby Kamehameha Shopping Center, so you could take a break from sightseeing at this museum to go grab a meal and then return to finish exploring.
