Description

from Maui Haleakala Summit Lavender Day Tour
The day begins with complimentary pick-up between 7:00 am & 7:30 am. Touring in the air-conditioned comfort of an exclusive, 6 - 8 guest, Luxury Limo-Van, takes us to Pa’ia for a lite morning snack. Afterward, it’s a leisurely mountain drive to Haleakala National Park and the crater summit. Ascend to the “House of the Sun” visitor’s center to let the crisp air awaken your senses to the breathtaking panoramas of the crater. Photograph multi-island views atop the 10,023 ft. summit and picture frame the moment forever. Pu’u Ula Ula, (Red Hill), affords 360-degree views of the Big Island of Hawai’i, West Maui and Lana’i and Moloka’i.

Descend Haleakala to the serene gardens of Ali’i Kula Lavender. Explore the fields of lavender that grow all year round. The fresh and invigorating fragrance will fill your senses and uplift the spirit. Best of all, visit the studio gift shop and discover over 75 quality products and gifts, directly from the gardens, made from Lavender & Aloha, just for you.

Enjoy our Pacific Rim Cuisine Luncheon and learn about lavender, a mystical and mysterious herb.

Your journey continues past rolling green pastures, serene mountain vistas and the seascapes below, to the Ulupalakua Ranch and Tedeschi Vineyards. This Historic ranch was visited by King Kalakaua and Queen Kapi’olani in 1874. Known then as the Rose Ranch, it was famed for its hospitality and agricultural prowess. The King’s cottage still stands and is currently the Winery’s Tasting Room. We invite you to sip some of the Ulupalakua wine and “taste the sun, the soft evening fog and hold one hundred years of history in your glass."

The Summit Lavender Sojourn continues with a visit to the Hawaiian paniolo, “cowboy” town of Makawao. There’s plenty of time to stroll and explore this and historic place. Visit Viewpoints Gallery, operated exclusively by Maui artists, Hot Island Glass, the only glass blowing studio on Maui or a number of other fine, locally owned shops. Come along with Temptation Tours to “Discover another World on the slopes of Haleakala.”

Tour Returns: 4:30 – 5:00pm.

Haleakala Summit Lavender Full Day Tour Includes: Luxury Limo-Van with only 6 - 8 Guests, Certified Guide Narrated 8 - 9 Hour Tour, Lite Morning Snack, and Scrumptious Pacific Rim Cuisine Lunch, Ali’i Kula Lavender Garden and Tedeschi Winery Tour, Entrance Fee to Haleakala National Park and Unlimited Ice-Cold Soft Drinks.

"Hana Sky Trek was a great way to do the Road to Hana"
TripAdvisor user rating 5 out of 5

We did the Hana Sky Trek opting for the morning ride to Hana and the helicopter ride back to the helipad. Gary was our guide on the drive to Hana and provided a lot of information along the way pointing out everything from island history to tree species. The drive included several stops for photo ops, banana bread and a dip at a waterfall. After making it to Hana we were served lunch along the shores of a black sand beach. After lunch and making one last stop at the black sand beach at Waianapanapa State Park we headed to the Hana airport (a charming little thing that is just what you'd expect it to look like in this remote location). Once at the airport it was only a couple of minutes until the Blue Hawaiian Helicopter that would be our ride out landed dropping off the next group that Gary would be taking from Hana on the drive out. The helicopter ride, while short, was great and provided a chance to see plenty of waterfalls and valleys that you would not be able to see otherwise and that I imagine may never have been visited by foot. We were able to take some pretty neat photos. After seeing the road to Hana from the passenger seat of this luxury van I now know that yes, you can drive the road to Hana on your own and you would have more time at each stop, but honestly I'm not sure I would want the same 3 hour drive back which is why the sky trek tour was worth every penny My advice for those thinking of doing the sky trek is to take the morning drive, you'll do the drive first and the helicopter flight will have you back shortly after lunch giving you nearly the entire day to do other activities. Suggestions for Temptations would be to include a stop at the Hana General store, we drove past but did not stop at this store and a couple of shops that looked like they would have been a great spot to shop for something from Hana. Only 2 of the 5 people in our van took a short dip at the waterfall and the stops along the road were pretty quick, Gary kept us on a tight schedule and we didn't linger so I don't think it was that we took too much time elsewhere. We will come to Maui again, it is unlikely that we will take another drive to Hana so we can't help but to feel like we may have missed a keepsake from one of the shops.

"Hana Sky-Trek What a fantastic experience."

There was an issue of weight regarding the helicopter balance. Temptation Tours reached out to me via all methods of communication days before the flight. The issue was resolved and were we confirmed. Nice communication on their part. In our party of 4 two were uncomfortable with heights. Both were experienced plane travelers so trusted the science. The pilot was good at making sure protocols were understood and double checking passengers were secure. Dylan the pilot explained the geology, history and culture as we went from sea level to 10,000 feet in a short time. We flew over the crater, along beaches, into valleys. It was great. A driver with a wonderfully comfortable limo bus picked us up at the Hana airport. A nice six seater with seating like airline first class. He laid out a sumptuous lunch at the harbor with a tasty lunch. We proceeded back over the mountains through 6oo turns and 55 one lane bridges. This is definitely a road to be driven on as it is a tedious drive (having done it round trip in the past.). If I were driving I would have missed some beautiful scenery. People have told me for years that if I was able to see Hawaii from the air. They were absolutely right.
