Description

from Maui Haleakala Crater and Rainforest Day Tour
This unique package offers the opportunity to experience the wide variety of Maui’s diverse scenery - from Haleakala National Park, an exotic protea farm and paniolo “cowboy” country to the Hana Coast rainforest, waterfalls & a famous windsurfing beach - all in one day. Beginning with complimentary pick-up between 7:00 am & 7:30 am and then touring through the Central Valley, in one of our exclusive, 6 to 8 guest, Luxury Limo-Vans, we begin this Adventure in Paradise with a lite morning snack.

Start the day “on top the world” at the pinnacle of Haleakala National Park at 10,023 feet. The “House of the Sun” visitor’s center offers breathtaking panoramas from the rim of the crater. There are many photo opportunities while descending this scenic mountain drive. View cattle and dairy ranches on the way to the Hawaiian paniolo cowboy town of Makawao. This unique town still has hitching posts, from back when horses were more common than cars. Today this quaint village is home to quite an eclectic group of little shops and boutiques.

Enjoy a bountiful Upcountry Pacific Rim Cuisine Lunch. After lunch, travel east through Ha’iku, where the grass is always a beautiful emerald green and bountiful avocados, citrus, bananas and exotic tropical flowers grow. After leaving Ha’iku, experience the spectacular Hana Coast rainforest. Visit Ke’anae, a traditional Hawaiian farming community, in which little has changed in the last 500 years. The return journey takes us to Ho’okipa Beach Park, the “windsurfing capital of the world.” Photo opportunities abound as these windsurfers really put on an aquatic show.

Tour Returns: 4:30 pm - 5:00 pm.

Haleakala Crater & Rainforest Full Day Tour Includes: Luxury Limo-Van with only 6 - 8 Guests, Certified Guide Narrated 9 -10 hour Tour, Lite Morning Snack and Upcountry Pacific Rim Cuisine Lunch, Entrance Fee to Haleakala National Park, Protea Garden tour or Waterfall Swim, & unlimited ice-cold drinks.

Gayle was our guide. Informative about island history and local knowledge and a great teacher, we learned and took in the awe inspiring nature sights on the Road to Hana. The picnic lunch at the Hana Beach was unforgettable for the ambiance, and the wraps, salads, fresh ice-cold pineapple and cookie dessert were delish. Gayle's skills as a tour guide are first rate and she made a great trip unforgettable. Debi and Fran.

My husband and I are in Maui to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We decided to do the road tour to Hana through Temptation Tours and we we instructed twice (during the initial booking and the confirmation call) to bring sneaker type shoes ( shoes with a grip), a swim suit and towel, and an extra change of clothes. We were told that we would be going to breakfast, swimming, hiking to at least one waterfall, and lunch at the hotel in Hana. My husband and I were super excited about this excursion. We started the day with Wayne (a nice man of 80 years of age) picked up another couple and headed to PA'IA where we had a lovely breakfast. Then we started to actual drive on the road to Hana which was filled with many beautiful places to stop and lots of gorgeous waterfalls. Each stop had people walking around and enjoying the sites. Our guide, Wayne, explained that he would drive to KE'ANAE where we stopped for five minutes and took a few pictures then he would drive all the way to Hana for lunch. He said he would stopping at the wonderful sites on the return route. After our hamburger lunch which was fine we were ventured into the gift shop and an art gallery. I felt obligated to roam both stores after many, not so subtle, remarks made by our guide to support these businesses. I truly wanted to find something to buy but found nothing in the gift shop and very expensive art in the gallery. Finally on the road back we were so looking forward to the physical activities and beautiful sites. However, this is where things really start to go wrong. Our first stop was at the black sand beach of Weianapanapa. It was beautiful and my husband, the other couple on our tour, and I went down to the beach and we went through the lava tube which was fun. Then we walked back to the upper area where our guide had the van started and ready to head out. We asked about the blow hole and he said it was not worth the walk. So we left. We then stopped at a water fall, Pua'a Ka'a, and our guide said it was a 40 yard little walk and we did not need any special shoes. The four of us walked the very short concrete walk to the falls where we found many other people swimming and jumping from the top of the falls. I did not have my swimsuit on so I went back to the van to grab it and change in the ladies room which was right there. I was told by our guide, Wayne, that I would not be able to put my swimsuit on because he needed to get us to the banana bread stand and it was time to leave. My husband came looking for me a few minutes later and the guide sent him back to retrieve the other couple. I was so upset I could not speak a word. We only got 20 minutes at this ... our only waterfall stop??? Our guide did explain to us that he was suffering from hip pain and expressed his absolute surprise that the other female in our group was physically able to cross the rocks/water to the waterfall. I was in total disbelief !!!! The bag we each packed, as instructed, was never necessary! So please be warned that the tour is a total rip off! Don't do it!!!!! Save your almost $300 per person and drive yourself!!!

Gail was our guide to a wonderful day of sightseeing. A very relaxing road trip with plenty of rest stops, especially for those who get queasy on a road with many tight corners. The food was lovely and fresh, with a picnic table set up under cover looking at the beach. Gail kept us entertained with local knowledge and stories of the island history so the drive didn't appear that long. It is a full day but worth getting out of the resort and seeing more of the beautiful island. Thank you Gail

"Haleakala with Scott as tour guide is FANTASTIC "

We were with another company and our tour guide hid in the van as it was windy and cold at the summit. Scott was beside us with his intimate group of 8 "penguins" huddling together. He gave them a full description of the history of the place, the hikes and tours that can be done through the volcano, the wildlife and knew by the minute what was going on with the sunrise. He took pictures of his crew using photographers techniques (he's a photographer) and their pictures turned out so well. We were left to fend for ourselves from our tour and without Scott beside us the experience would have been totally different. I'd highly recommend going with Temptation Tours and asking for Scott.
