This is a tour unlike any other. Spend the day exploring the unique geography of Hawaii’s “Big Island”. A visit to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park will inform you about the seismic activity that’s been a constant on the Big Island and the culture that sprang up around it. You’ll see Mauna Loa, the world’s largest volcano, and Kilauea, the world’s most active volcano. You’ll also see other dormant volcanoes, lava beds, and steam vents while discovering the legends meant to explain these natural phenomena.

While there is no guarantee of a red-hot lava flow sighting, you may see a smoldering crater or a steam vent. By the tour’s end, you’ll know exactly how and why volcanoes occur. You’ll also have the opportunity to take in some unique scenery along the way.

Very friendly, simple and clean. Good bar and restaurant with an unbeatable view. Trails are amazing. The room was comfortable, ours had two queen beds and our family had plenty of room. Great common area with fireplace and family games you can borrow.

This is a wonderful restaurant and hotel set atop Kilauea’s caldera. From the restaurant you can look out massive picture windows into the caldera. Watch the steam rise as you eat. The food is very good, a mix of local and American favorites. It was the first place I had Poi.

Let me start off with the food, it was fantastic: I ordered the mauka and makia. The lobster was cooked to perfection, and the char on the steak was mouth watering. Now let me talk about the service. Our waiter, John, was great. He was funny, interesting, relatable, and everything else you would want. The view was amazing. We could see the stars and it was gorgeous.

We ate near the window facing the crater in the fine dining room. It was wonderful. Kevin was a good waiter. Nice variety. Probably our nicest meal. The volcano house was closed for awhile, now reopend with great new management. It's been there for many years. We've eaten there many many trips. It's like "old money" eats there. Fine dining, with cloth table cloths and cloth napkins. The atmosphere is wonderful, and food is good and well presented. Prices were high, but what do you expect for a 5* type restaurant. Our best location and meal on the Big Island. On the Crater rim, and you can see the smoking crater. Jarvis

"Great location for visiting volcano national park"

Hotel sits right on the rim of the volcano. Although there is no visible lava there is still a lot see in the park. This hotel is great for driving and waking to the park. The hotel itself is rustic and average but it’s location is excellent and it means you make an early start to exploring the many volcanic sites across a very large area. Food is good and buffet breakfast is good.
