What an excellent tour. "Uncle Charlie" was an excellent guide. Incredibly knowledgeable and uber-friendly! We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with him. We give him a 5+++ star rating! Don't hesitate to use this company when touring in Oa'hu. You won't regret it! AND, the lunch...magnificent!

"A Day Well Spent"

Pearl Harbor is a must-see in Honolulu, and this was the best way to see it. We originally thought we'd just do it on our own, but having seen the site and the facilities, this was by far the more sensible option. It is a long day, which can be difficult for small children, but the tour is very well paced and most people felt they could have spent even more time at some of the stops if the time were available. All Hoku's guides seem excellent, and Kap was no exception. Well, worth the cost.

First our Tour Guide “Charlie” is the Best!! I’m on vacation in Hawaii with friends.....This was an all day event and it was exceptional. From the moment when Charlie picked us up there was never a moment that wasn’t filled with information about this Wonderful Island and all there is to see. Pearl Harbor was such an experience that I don’t have words to describe it..... if you do a tour make sure you visit Pearl Harbor. We toured so many places I can’t list them all but we got on the tour bus as stranger and 1/2 way through we were family on this beautiful island experience... with Uncle Charlie guiding us through!! Get company.....Everything was Exceptional!! I would do it all again if I had time!! ONLY if Charlie could be my guide again!!

"The “Eco” tour should really be called a shopping expedition..."
TripAdvisor user rating 1 out of 5

Signed up for Hoku’s Eco tour on the guidance of the concierge at my hotel. Having done many such tours around the world, I was excited to go see natural Hawaii! Unfortunately, that’s not exactly what happened... about 30% of the time is spent driving from point-to-point (as is to be expected on such a tour). Our guide instead of talking about the history and ecology of the areas we were in, talked incessantly about Hawaiians being priced out of the market by foreign (or mainland) investors and about luxury and status. Kind of weird. The remaining time was split evenly between lame shopping (a coffee shop, dole food court and macadamia nut shop) where there was no explanation of what/why we were stopping (like why are macadamia nuts (or coffee or pineapples) important to the Hawaiian economy) and each of the stops was fairly long. As a side note I’m fairly certainly either the tour company or the driver is getting a kickback at these concession stands. Our driver handed out shopping bags at one of the stops and insisted guests use them... The “eco” part of the tour was OK but could’ve been done in 2-3 hrs. A visit to a waterfall in a botanical garden and a lazy kayak/SUP session in a stream pretty much some it up. And a few minutes at a very cool Japanese temple. Otherwise, everything was a wiki-wiki (which means you stop for a couple minutes to snap a pic and so you can say you’ve been there... ). All in, very expensive and pretty lame, IMO.
